Second pony thread today, and it's not even three in the afternoon here. :p

And no, I don't believe so. I liked Avatar, and I like this, but I can't stand anime or manga.

This is us - "WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"
No this is me - "Stop ruining this forum with your dirty wagon tracks."

This is you - "DEEEERRRRRPPPPP!"
It's far better than all the pedophilia threads we were getting a while ago :p
Besides which, I like it.

I just had another theory on why this show might be so popular. I can't believe I didn't think this before.

Think about it, we have so much terrible stuff on the internet, on tv, on pretty much anything. I won't draw a big list but I'm sure you understand what I'm saying.

Then you have My Little Pony, the purest form of anything. There's no violence (as far as I know), I've never seen anyone find a sexual reference, there's no type of swearing. Overall, it's pure. That's just something you don't see anymore, especially on the internet.
It's not just its purity, but how it managed to ATTAIN its purity that throws most of the fans for a loop. I've said in the past that MLP has always been an exercise in corporate branding, and that's because it is. There is absolutely no reason for MLP: FiM to have the kind of polish it has, because the show has ALWAYS existed simply to push a cheap line of toys. The fact that Friendship is Magic manages to TRANSCEND that status speaks volumes about the creative team and voice talent behind it, and the love and effort they put into it shows.

My Little Ponies isn't supposed to have merit. It wasn't invented with value in mind. It's the fact that the latest incarnation succeeds regardless of these things, due to the craftsmanship and guidance from a team that just happened to care about it, that gives it its power and retention.

Watching my little pony makes you cool and manly? Yeah, fuck that. If being cool and masculine means hating anime and watching stupid pony shit meant for 6 year old girls, then give me a dress and a complete collection of Cowboy Bebop DVDs.
While I don't necessarily agree with what the person you quoted said, you definitely aren't proving them wrong.

Outright dismissing a show for being "meant for 6 year old girls" rather than actually assessing the show for yourself shows some level of insecurity.

Just out of curiosity, have you been paying attention to who is creating the massive influx of pony threads?

If MLP is "ruining this forum" it is because of people like you who can't get over the fact that people enjoy it that are causing it.
I haven't made any threads about it.

I will however comment in them if they come up, just like I would any other thread.
Where did I say you were making the threads? I said that people like you who weren't fans of ponies were the ones causing the invasion of ponies that is "ruining this forum" because they cannot let go of the fact that people enjoy MLP and are constantly sparking conversations.

I'm amazed at how tough reading is for some people.

WHY is everyone so gaga over my little pony? WHY? WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY? Can somebody PLEASE answer me?
It's animation is great, its characters are fleshed out and realised without being stereotypes, the voice acting is phenomenal, the songs are good, the subject matter is excellent, they don't treat the audience like idiots, and the Creator Lauren Faust made it with the intent that adults will be watching it with their daughters, thus she didn't dumb it down.

Lauren Faust was also able to make this happen by telling Hasbro that she wasn't just going to make a twenty minute commercial for the toy-line and actually make people care about what they are buying. Plus, she's the one behind Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, both of which are quite good.

Yuck, what have you all done to me. You made me say something nice about the Wii. You know somewhere in the universe space-time is ripping a hole in itself.
Well, it uhh..... has a low failure rate?

...That's all I can think of.

There's nothing more stereotypical to little girls then ponies. Even pink and dolls aren't as bad because some males can appreciate them.
Some men appreciate this as well it would seem.

Clearly the same can be said about ponies.

The main problem here is you have some kind of sexist idealistic view of what is only acceptable for little girls to like rather than the problem being that people are watching things that can only ever be meant for little girls.

First off, thank you. That's a good answer.
Second...

I'm guessing ponies are the new cake. Of course, no one ever got the cake joke.

No one but me that is.
So really, there are people who treat the ponies like they're another meta-ironic-hipster-nerd joke that people have taken too far. The idea that "I like this show ironically. Of course nobody would watch this cartoon willingly, but I like it to try and be funny" is sad.

Unless, you're part of the demographic who actually like the show like the first poster, carry on enjoying it. All you posers and hipsters? Fuck off.

How can they be people like me if I don't do the same things they do. I'd never make a thread about ponies, therefore I'm nothing like the people that do.

It's okay. I'm surprised you can write at all.

And yet all you are doing is bumping a thread of something you wish wasn't on the frontpage?

Congrats on attacking my intelligence.

What's funny is that the top three threads on the front page are all pony-related threads.

Ohh the irony. It flows like delicious honey.

Edit: ALSO!
No, what I'm doing is bumping a hate thread for a subject I dislike.

Subtle difference there.

It's cool. You did it first n'all.
Hate thread? *checks title and content* I think you're in the wrong room. You want pony thread C.

Have a nice day.

Umm, I hate to nit-pick and all, but this isn't a hate thread, someone was trying to draw a parallel between My Little Pony-watchers and Anime-watchers.

Everyone has insecurities, this is why the vast majority of humans don't leave the house naked. Could you possibly fathom that I watched a bit of it and found it dull. And now apparently some people see this as cause to emasculate me and others who can't get into it? Or, "shock and horror", don't want to. Honestly though, I can't see the point of trying to emasculate a person who finds masculinity to be a droll concept, but whatever. Just don't let Chuck Norris see what you all are doing. Fair warning.
"Masculinity a droll concept"

"pony shit meant for 6 year old girls"

Keep telling yourself that you aren't concerned with your masculinity.

Actually the only hate is off topic coming from you.

This is hardly a hate thread.

I'm pretty sure it was a hate thread for both because the OP didn't really like either one and assumed those who like one or the other are connected in liking something he doesn't.
