Get in about 6:20 and do HW for about an hour. HEY GUESS what its only 7:20!! OMG is it really that hard? bed time WAS 9:00 for me. So in short There is enough time to do HW. My parents always taught me to do an hour of HW a night and yes that did help especially if you Concentrate!!!

I think you should do your homework in order to master the material. That seems to be the reason homework is issued in my experience.

I don't like homework because:
1. It takes a lot of my free time (and i have approximately 4 hours)
2. Usually it's something i that is easy, but requires time, instead of skill - and therefore serves no purpose other than taking my time.

An alarming ammount of students in the US have terrible grades (well below 2.4GPA). Here we get a kid complaining about too much homework? you should be getting MORE homework if you ask me >.>
I think it's because they know they can be underachievers and still pass. Then again it can be argued that an alarming amount of children and teenagers in the U.S. aren't quite the sharpest crayons in the box. :Y
Crayons don't get sharpened...Pencils do though ;)

Hehe sorry :p
Nuh-uh, I sharpen all my crayons! :c

Homework never did anything for me in high school, it only made it stupidly more difficult to juggle and manage.
Attending and paying attention in class is vastly more important, a teacher will be able to help you in ways paper content cannot.

After I left high school and moved on to something else with the same level, which was a Uni Prep style course, giving me the ability to go to Uni without my HSC(11/12).
It was seriously the best choice I ever made, I could not believe how horridly bad high schools are run, the content they feed you is mostly all worthless, I regret ever spending almost 2 years in years 11 and 12.

I was failing years 11 and 12, pretty damn badly(IE: <40% in around 6 subjects).
I moved onto the course I'm in now, I'm looking to pass with a 75+ in the 3 major core units.

Being given homework and content? worthless.
Being taught how to break down information, access information and make use of it? infinitely more useful.

I've had homework throught my 13 years of school & I just graduated in May. One of my last exams before graduating from high school was a take home test. I didn't like that idea, so I decided to do it in school on Monday. :)

But homework is a very helpful, learning tool that has helped me out. I was an aide in my school's library and did my homework and research there. I did an essay on a relative of mine in my junior year. (Edgar Allan Poe- I still have it.) I had to take Algebra, Geometry, & Spanish twice, but homework is what helped burn the stuff in my head. I know phrases in Spanish. I know formulas. I even took an advanced math class and passed it with a D. (YAY!!) But what we do NOT need are school projects on poster boards & tri-folds. We can't work on projects and homework at the same time. I used to go to bed at 2 am on school nites, I was so dedicated to finishing my work. I'm just so glad it's all over now. But some homework is good. Worksheets, at least. A few pages out of a workbook. Something like that.

I think homework is a load of bullshit, but it really depends. Alot of the homework i get is just revision which is just annoying and usually doesnt do anything because I understand things much more easily then some people, but some things like essays and projects i think are necessary because theres not enough time in a class to finish it.
But what about the people who don't get it? I doubt that they would go and do the extra work necessary to get it if it wasn't required.
True, but the problem is that the very few people who dont get it in class are the ones who dont want to learn and try to be as dumb as they can, they dont even do the homework anyway (this might just be my school). i think it would be better for classes to be longer so they can get the help they need in school not getting home and getting it all wrong because they had no guidance

Oh come on. I just finished TEE (year 11 and 12) doing most of the hardest subjects. Homework. Is. Necessary. However, the teachers don't really make you do it. If you care about getting good grades, you will do homework, and you will study. If they got rid of homework, no one would get A's in TEE subjects.

Homework is ruining the lives of kids everywhere! It can mess up a child's health.

If you stay up and do homework, your staying up later, (Thank you for the insight) which means your sleeping less. (Again, thanks. I was having trouble connecting the dots) When anyone below 18 doesn't sleep the required 8-12 hours, it can stun your growth. If you have a cold, it will last longer. Just because you don't get to sleep.
When i do homework, i do it fast so i can sleep, but I don't learn anything (Clearly). Even in math, I don't learn anything... Homework Messes Kids up and Should NOT be tolerated. (What is this sentence? I don't even..)

It also encourages obesity.Notice that America has the most obesity in children. (It's growing inside them now?) Why do think that is? Fast food? Yes that helps, (Interesting word choice there) but if kids had more time to go outside, and more time to exersize (The fuck kinda spelling is this?!), than the obesity rate would drop considerably. Most Kids that are obese are smart (Prove it) and do all there homework, therefore, by the time there done, they wouldn't be able to go outside or even go on a treadmill, it would be bedtime. By assigning homework, you are supporting obesity in children.

Has anyone ever told you? (No) When your a kid, its the best 17 years of your life. (How old are you?) You should cherish your freedom. What freedom? Freedom to do school work out of school? Yes, children should get good work habits, so instead of written work, maybe tell them to go outside and play kick ball and have a parent sign a slip. (Fuck kinda work's that?) By having to get something signed, it would enforce commitment, (COMMIT IT TO KICKBALL WOO) which is something the USA lacks. (If you could even name the President I would die of shock. Don't get into social commentary, kid)

Save the homework for when your in college, not kids and teenagers. (Why would I be doing homework when I'm in a kid or teenager? WAIT I MEAN-)) Let them Cherrish (Oh come on you spelled it right like a paragraph ago!) there childhood, because thats somthing they'll never get back.
Well, I'm grading this particular piece of homework an

[HEADING=1]F[/HEADING]

Now stop drooling on the desk. You're creeping out the rest of the class.
Oh my, this is the funniest thing I've read all day.

OT: He's just butthurt because he failed school again.

I hate homework as well. However, I still do it, because I know I need to and I might get something out of it.

Fine. No homework. Increase my class time so that I can actually teach what I need to teach and we'll go with that.

I'd like to argue in favor of homework, because seriously are students that lazy? However judging from some of the college papers I've read and graded it doesn't do any good anyway.

But in reality, it's preparing you for real life. In college you'll certainly have 'home work'. And of course you will have deadlines to meet at any job, you will eventually have to work on projects outside of the work place - at least if you want to get anywhere in life.

I hated doing homework, but I'm thankful of the lessons I learned in doing it. You will be too.

That or you'll be an utter failure at life.

That is just fifty types of fail. The grammar and spelling is all wrong. If anything, they need a bit more English homework.
When I was at school, I could easily get homework done and have a social life. It wasn't given to us everyday, like this little boy who started the petition is insinuating.
If homework is so stressful and mean, they're going to die out when they have to face real problems.

By assigning homework, you are supporting obesity in children.
...Are these kids supposed to be our future? It makes me hope for a nuclear holocaust if I'm honest.
