I've been playing WoW for almost five years now, so I've spent a lot of my time around the son of Durotan, however I want to know whether or not I am the only one that has fallen victim to the Garrosh bug.

Personally, I find Thrall more of a visionist (Shaman joke). He spent a lot of his time dedicated to forging peace between the Alliance and the Horde, but unfortunately to no avail. Garrosh has a leadership almost completley diametric to Thrall and elects to eradicate any enemy of the Horde.

Whilst through WC3 and WoW I have understood Thrall's ideals, I find myself agreeing more with Garrosh's approach; seeing as the Alliance couldn't even hold peace for three seconds in the Undercity.

So I put it to you. Who do you think made the best Warchief, Thrall or Garrosh?

I prefer having Thrall as the leader of the Horde (Even though I mostly Play Allience)

1. He Seems more Kind, Mature, and Senseable than Garrosh
2. He is WAY hotter than Garrosh...

Thrall led the Horde through a lot of tough shit in Warcraft 3/Frozen Throne.
He deserves it.

Thrall. Garrosh was originally in the Burning Crusade expansion, and if you happened to do any of the Nagrand quests you'd notice he was dreadfully depressed, doubtful and saw no future for his people. He was a terrible leader then and the shift to warchief seemed undeserved.

He's brash, ruthless and absorbed with defeating the Alliance at any cost. While peace may have been a pipe dream, the aggresion Garrosh has forced upon the Horde has ruined relations with pretty much everybody.

If you do the troll starting quests these days you'll discover that Vol'jin despises Garrosh and his methods, and considered having the trolls abandon the Horde all together. The Tauren as well are wary of him after the death of Cairne Bloodhoof (granted Garrosh was not truly the one to kill him).

I honestly don't know much else about the lore, but Thrall was a wise and merciful leader; Garrosh will either run the Horde into the ground or rip them apart at the seams.

Oh I agree. Garrosh is way over the top and seems to be almost completley uneducated. I prefer Thrall; he is awesome. However, after decades of trying to forge an Alliance with the... Alliance, I feel Thrall should have realised that Varian is too immature (more immature than Garrosh) to seek peace, so I'm following Garrosh in the "DEATH TO ALLIANCE" approach. If things had gone how they did with Jaina in Warcraft 3 then Garrosh would just be some idiotic infant that has forced his way to Thrall's position, yet I think every Alliance leader is too stubborn to see that peace would be far more efficient against Illidan, Arthas and now Deathwing; just like Admaril Proudmoore.

Thrall has an enthralling name.

So there.....
(I know nothing of WoW)

EDIT: further google studies taught me that Garrosh is to much of a redhead.
And Jaina is not cute.

Actually... I've just realised what I said. I feel silly.

It's not Garrosh I like, I just think the Alliance leaders are too daft to do the right thing.

Fair enough. I'm jumping back to Thrall and rendering this entire thread irrelevant.

It's not an irrelevant thread, it's opinion based ;)

But yeah, I see your point about Garrosh's methods maybe having an actual outcome. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Varian is a immature gnat. Although doing a quick search apparently he has decent reason to hate the Horde.

I still wish he'd go back to his little hole on Alcaz island though.

I can't stand Garrosh. I hate his approach. I hate his forced badassery. I even hate his voice acting. And he killed Cairne... /cry

(Yes, I know Cairne challenged him, and yes, I know about the sabotaged weapon... but still...)

The only thing I like about his Voice Acting is the intro to Twilight Highlands. "Get. Off. My. SHIP" is one of the funnier quotes in WoW.

But yes, Cairne did not deserve to die.

Varian goes back to the Warcraft 1 era timeline-wise. He was the son of the King of Stormwind, who was murdered right before Stormwind was burned to the ground and most of its people slaughtered.

Yeah, he's kinda got a good excuse for hating the Horde. Sylvanas and Garrosh aren't exactly helping his opinion of em either if the whole 'death to the living' and 'death to the Alliance' are anything to go by.

I have always hoped that Thrall would become less off a hippie and cast the Forsaken from the Horde for their insubordinace. Since the Wrath Gate and Garrosh becoming the Warchief, I've grown more accepting to Varian's values; plus I recall that in Arthas: Rise of the Lich King, Varian had pretty much set his opinion in stone after the betrayal of Garona, so whilst I do agree he has a very, VERY valid reason to mistrust the Horde... Thrall sought nothing but peace.

Hell Thrall was once a plaything of the Alliance, but he prefered peace.

Yeah I can understand his utter hate for the Horde, but he seems to be so bitter and blinded by his loathing that he's oblivious to everything but the thought of smiting the Horde.

Honestly I just don't understand why he's still king when he's so narrow-minded and infantile.

Short version: Thrall is the Warcraft Jesus. He's one of the few actually trying to play nice that matters. The way I see it, the horde are/were the good guys with some bad people, and the alliance are the bad guys with some good people. Blizzard has had to pull new races out of their asses twice because the alliance can't play nice.

King's aren't elected. You can't choose a king, that would defeat the entire point of a Monarchy. He could be a raving looney and he'd still be king, god knows it's happened often enough in real life.

Besides, while Thrall seems like a nice character, he never stopped his Orcs from invading Ashenvale nor the Forsaken for doing pretty much whatever the hell they wanted. Imagine for a moment you're the leader of a people who's just returned only to have one of your best friends killed by, as far as you know, Horde undead. You travel to their city seeking revenge, a city in which you spent most of your childhood after your own city was destroyed by the Horde, and discover it's now in ruins with rivers of sludge and slime, dead bodies, and worse; the cages where apothecaries experimented on captured Humans, Dwarves, and anyone else they could find.

Then Thrall pops out of nowhere with said undeads leader at his side right after you've finished killing the guy responsible for that neat little Wrathgate cinematic.

What do you think Varian is going to do? Hug his Orc buddy and his hot dead friend?

Horde have given him no reason to trust them so why should he? Because Thrall says they're all nice now? Certainly doesn't seem that way from his perspective I imagine.

I like Varian. He's got some fire to him! Reminds me of the Alliance hero in Warcraft 2, one of my favourite games when it first came out.

Always have been with thrall and now after many years, he no longer the face of the horde is like a kick to the balls.
Like he's the one who started the whole Horde right?
I just don't get garrosh, Yah orgrimmar looks more badass now but he's not really a 'king'...more like a aggressive orc dictoator that everyone loves and can't kill, except for alliance so they can kill who ever horde pc/ncp the hell they want.

Thrall is, and always will be, the true leader of the horde. Despite his races history, he is the most sensible leader in all of Azeroth. He tries to over come conflicts through peace, rather than war, and he was the main driving force behind uniting the alliance and horde together to combat a common enemy, The Lich King. Then the Forsaken came along and messed that up, because Varian is a massive jerk who hates the horde and allows irrational decisions tojeopardize their very survival.
