I would say my second most disliked topic is the anti-America threads. Between that and Korea, who hardly gets a thread in these days, it's all people ever talk about. And they love talking about it negatively. I can't say much for America, but I would like to see people broaden their hate to other parts of the world. America is not the only country in it.

Like that thread about the kid getting stabbed in the neck in Sweden. While a very unpleasant topic, it was refreshing.

But my top bore is girls and gaming threads. I have nothing against girls or gaming. But putting both together and questioning it constantly makes girls a 'scientific study' and not a 'gamer' like everyone else. Most of the time it makes the Escapist look like it's overrun with boys only now hitting puberty. Other times it makes the Escapist look sexist. Girls and gaming, The new thing! Girls and gaming, can they be hardcore? Girls and gaming, should games steer towards girls!? It's redundant, a very stupid topic, and puts girls as a whole in a bad light.

Mind you, there is nothing wrong for a girl to make a thread complaining that people are treating her like trash on a gaming server because of her gender. But it almost always ends with a bunch of young teen boys or trolls (or both) preying on her and using her as a joke. Which is terrible.

Threads which encourage flaming annoy me. Who'd have thought "Which is better, the 360 or the PS3?" would unleash Nerd-rage?

Also, on a tangenital point, any thread which encourages rudeness from those few on The Escapist who are only too happy to parade their "superiority" (also known as "teenage wisdom").

I don't really like the 'ask a [person with specified race/nationality/career/wallpaper]' threads, because it's like suddenly and randomly claiming to be more knowledgeable about something than the people who are going to respond.

Example: 'Ask a Canadian'. A huge number of the people who come here are Canadian. If I had a genuine question about them, I'd either Google it or ask one of them.

Also, the threads that aren't so bad themselves, but that I know will get annoying replies. For example, if I see a thread titles "Am I the only one who doesn't like Star Wars?" I know every page is going to have about half of the replies be "YOU'RE NEVER THE ONLY ONE," (often in just as rude a fashion) as if OP literally meant that he is the only person on the entire planet who has the opinion he is expressing. It is a figure of speech indicating that one is comparing his opinion with those of others, to see how much of a minority his opinion actually is. It does not actually mean anyone was naive enough to believe that his opinion is so rare as to be shared by nobody else.
The point when people respond like that is that the OP tends to be talking about the topic as if they've done something special or interesting by not liking something.

Usually, this comes after weeks of threads with exactly the same topic.

For me it goes "Your Avatar has....." then the "What do you think of Girls and Gaming?" and then the Anti-(insert various political parties, leaders, and countries). I don't really mind the recommendation threads since those can be helpful

"Someone recommend me" threads really get on my tits, mostly because they are 99.999999999999% of the time followed by the word "anime".

Whoever decided that anime should be so popular with nerds needs to be shot. I'm soo tired of seeing threads about it (as we speak there is a thread asking what anime music I'm listening to [I'm not]).

Lost faith in humanity threads are stupid.

So are Console vs. PC threads.

Also, threads that people create just to complain about something, with no other purpose apart from them trying to make themselves feel a bit better after getting upset about something completely trivial...

Those two are mine.
Seconded, I'm so sick of people thinking that humanity is ruined because of a crappy TV show or Justin Bieber's fame.

I chose other because there's no "all of the above" option, but also because I'm sick of the "Am I the only one?" threads and also the "I've lost faith in humanity/humans piss me off so much" ones. For the first, I say, "No, you aren't. Shut up and stop garnering attention for yourself." For the latter, I say, "After you've grown up either past the physical or mental age of 18, then you'll realize that humanity doesn't suck, it's just your cynical angst that does."

Edit: Oh! And all of the ones about (homo)sexuality, or just sexuality in general. I'm sorry, but they've been done to death.

I really hate those avatar threads.
I think they're completely pointless.

I DARE someone to prove me wrong.

I'm voting for "girls and gaming" threads as I'm female and I'm tired of alternately between being fetishized and minimalized just because I have a vagina and opposable thumbs.

Geez, I didn't know people hated avatar threads. I think they're okay.

I am kind of annoyed by the threads where OP just tells some story about his life with a weak facade of it actually being a question to discuss. Stuff like "Have you ever been in a situation where your girlfriend punched someone in the face in an argument over what your group should order at Applebee's?" (hypothetical example) as if anyone else would have an experience like that. It just bugs me that someone would make a thread that's all about them and try to make it sound like a thread that's not about them.
My absolute favorite example of this was when this one poster made a thread that told the longest story I have seen on the escapist. He finished it with the obligatory, "Has this ever happened to you?", only then to state he will not answer anything about the story and wanted the thread to not get off track and to be about the question. Everyone kept quoting him and asking about the story (it was a weird story that left a lot of holes), but he would always answer "don't want to talk about it, don't want to derail." Most irritating thread ever.

Anti religious threads out side the religion and politics section, they only tend to piss me off, but I haven't seen on in a few months so its not a problem. Lately though I'm starting to get ticked off about the threads pertaining to sex.

It really doesn't matter.

You're not forced to post on or read these threads, so the hate you have for them is irrational.

I mean, I've seen thousands of them but I sill smile when I to post on some of them, and surely that's enough, if just a few of us can smile about it.

Ugh, the girl gamers threads. Yes, we exist. Yes, we can play. Yes, we all have different personalities. Yes, we like all kinds of different games. Just like you. Get over it.
Since as a general group we are all spending more free time at games than running around in real world social situations I am not surprised we haven't actually met.
If I were to generalize guys in games at this point I would think most of you are loud mouth, insult spewing assholes but guess what? I know some really great guys online.
I am not an attention whore and I hate them probably more than you do. I am also the one that will tell them off over it and really confuse the guys that want to rescue girls online. Of course those guys are usually the ones that are all excited about the attention whore talking about her panties so I don't win those fights either.
I am also not the girl that is going to spew insults at you if I beat you, unless we are friends and we have that kind of relationship then I will make snarky remarks to you all the time. ;)
Quit judging us all by the bad ones or by the fact that "you have never met one". There are plenty of them on here and they comment in the threads that have nothing to do with "girl" gamers. They don't usually stand out because they are no different from guy gamers.
Okay, I think I am done at least until the next topic comes up.
Is it ironic that you hate the existence of girl gamer threads, yet your post seems out of place and belongs in one of those threads you wish to disappear?
