yes infact it does... because its a GAME.

The universe is absolutely over-the-top, gigantically overblown and bombastic, awfully tacky with way too much testosterone. And thus, I love it to bits.

Orcs with machineguns, nuns with flamethrowers, elves with laser swords, 10 foot guys with rocket-rifles. W40K doesn't take it to 11, it takes to 9001 and beyond.

As for the games, I enjoy DoW2 every now and then, even though the matchmaking sucks big time. Stop pitting me, an inexperienced level 3 player, against level 48 players. It makes me loose. A lot. I would also love to play the tabletop version, but sadly there isn't anyone around to introduce me.
but these go to 11

and, as my computer is running on condensation (not steam) i play the demos..over and over xD

What comes to mind when I think of Warhammer 40,000 is the phrase "The Emperor protects". Thanks for asking!

Also the most recent games were awesome, the old ones that tried to adapt the table-top game to the PC directly weren't very good but thankfully Dawn of War didn't actually try to do that.

I think the universe (while being so over top with its BLACK NECRO DARKNESS FUTURE) is really rather interesting, the tabletop is great fun to play (as long as you have friends to do so) and the games are just amazing, aside from Soulstorm... But on the whole it's a beautifully crafted fictional universe. oh and

I love the tabletop game... especially since all my friends play and i have a better grasp of tactics than them... however some of them make my painted models look awful in comparison.

We do not only drink strawberry milk. It is the most popular drink of the Tau Empire, but we view all beverages as equal to advancing the Greater Good.

So I just got into playing DOW2 and was just thinking what do you guys think about it?

Also I put this in gaming discussion because of the games sorry if I shouldent of put it here.
tabletop is great. In fact, I'm doing a big apocalypse battle next weekend. It gonna be [HEADING=1] AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! [/HEADING]

In regards to the game series: Original was good, Winter Assault better, Dark Crusade great variety but a few glitches, Soulstorm crazy variety but getting inconsistent and really glitchy campaign, and #2 loved the customization and more Space Mariney feel of a few vs a thousand but the side missions got repetive and the game could get really hard at some points (the Angel gate mission still pisses me off). Can't wait for Chaos Rising.

Excuse me, *clears his throat* Blood for the Blood God! Skulls of the throne of Khorne!

In terms of the various factions though I'm rather torn between Chaos, the Necrons and the Imperial Guard/Sisters of Battle.

I like Chaos Undivided cause you pretty much cover all four of the gods, the Necrons cause they kill everything in sight with guass weapons and one of their gods is pretty much the grim reaper in the 40K universe and lastly for the IG and Sisters I just like the fact that they fight all the other factions and they're just human, no fancy space marine with about 19 more organs crammed into their body.

It's a superbly designed universe and a robust collection of RTS games, but I still think it's weird that there's a game out there that requires the use of a tape measure.

I love it so much I once created my own Eldar alcoholic drink while me and my mate were pretending to be an Eldar and Space Marine.. I was the Eldar because they're obviously the best.
Do you think you might be able to make drinks for the other factions as well? What did you make for the Eldar anyways?

I love the world of 40K, the books and games on it are brilliant and are some of the best universes going in sci fi. I used to play the tabletop game but the people really started to get on my nerves for being so pedantic about it.
Also the world they have made for 40k is kind of ruined by the tabletop game. A group of space marines getting cut to pieces by a couple of laspistols because you rolled unlucky just ruins any sort of feelings of story in the game. Once had a bolt pistol blow up my Leman Russ due to their rolling two six's against my rear armour. Wasn?t happy.

Seriously, look at the "range" of these units! No wonder hand-to-hand is still so important in this game set in the epically-far future!
It's not to scale... if it was then you'd be playing that size of a match on a football pitch. Seriously there are giant walkers in the 40k (called titans, of which there are various types) that are so big that 400 meters would only be its foot print. Or there are battleships that can incinerate the surface of a planet. These don't appear in regular games (titans appear in epic games but they're not even scaled properly) Even look at the standard units, Space marines heads are far too big for their bodies, added to the fact they are meant to be 9 foot tall super soldiers yet aren't much different to regular Imperial guard when it comes to scale.

Besides, a modern conflict derived game mechanic would suck balls in a TT game where models are this detailed... the scale back would involve changing it from individually modelled units to plaques representing divisions and companies... that would be far less interesting to observe.

OT: I'm not a major fan of the tabletop but I like the games (which are generally good) and the stories (not the best literature i've ever read but still enjoyable). It's hard to take it seriously... so thats why I play Orks, the game is basically a pub brawl as them.
