No because I grew up catholic yet right now I find that alot of the stuff the church is saying (and doing) I do not agree with so I am pretty much looking for a different religion. I'm thinking of paganism. But the church still has time to redeem itself in my mind so perhaps I may go back eventually...

I am not into any organized Religion because i see the nonsense, the hurt and pain it delivers

Some may still call me a Christian, all well and good..

I believe in God and i do as Jesus asked...

Love God

Love your neighbour..

theres nothing greater than these.
I feel the same way you do. Religion and spirituality are two different things.

Hm, spiritual but not religious here mostly because I think organized religion typically works on fixed constant notions and trying to force everyone and everything into a preset homogeneous mold. Was raised in a Baptist home, but that's pretty loosely using the word raise since my parents had very little to do with me, what with being the youngest of six. But my personal belief now is that God, or whatever you may it, is an intangible fluctuating entity of positive emotion, best described as love, that encompasses all that exists and provides opportunities to better all life. Furthermore, religions are essentially masses of people trying to build vessels to easily reach and understand that said deity in unity but then some pricks among those masses distort it all by turning their man-made vessels into gods themselves.

E: Kinda a deitist philosophy I know but I developed them while spending a large chunk of my childhood and some adulthood as an agnostic.

I became a committed Skeptic and Agnostic because my parents always displayed a remarkable disinterest in religion, and severely disapprove of certain belief systems, Mormonism most notably. My best friends growing up were Mormons and Catholics so I was exposed to a variety of religious beliefs but I didn't actually become an "atheist" or whatever you want to call me until I hit age 15, when I had a big argument with a street preacher over the Automatic Condemnation of non-believers. Talking to him was a big eye opener and that was pretty much when I turned my back from "God" and figured that either he doesn't exist, or humanity is better off without him.
That would be partially among my point and would agree that the world would be better without his take on god. Maybe someday you will explore this field further and find a deity that fits you. Or, maybe not. Good luck with whichever path you take.

the only remaining thing that ties me to Catholicism is the socially-ingrained urge to yell "Jesus Christ" when something bad or surprising happens.
Funny man!!

Funny also that the so-called Atheists would still celebrate Christmas and say THANK GOD!!
Why not celebrate Christmas? Ever heard "Everyone's Irish on Saint Patrick's day"? People enjoy the celebration, so why not Christmas as well? Whether you celebrate to give and receive gifts/good-will or to sing "Happy Birthday Jesus" (my brother's girlfriend's family are born-again Christians and do it) a celebration is a celebration. More people with the "Christmas Spirit" can't hurt, right?

And saying "Thank God" and "Jesus Christ" are just meaningless habits, I think =P

A lot of my mum's side of the family are religious, my grandma was particularly devout and my mum herself believes but doesn't really bother with it much. I've never heard any mention of religion from my dad's side of the family, my dad himself is atheist (or "can't be dealing with all that shite" as he puts it).

...so I guess my habit of floating between atheist/agnostic/Humanist is my own thing.

My parents are christians, but we never went to church, and they never forced anything on me. I am at this point a christian, because it makes the most sense to me.

my parents are atheists, and I ended up as a kind of freelance Christian-ish person , so I would say no

Certainly influenced by my family, who are for the msot part faithful Christians. Once I began to develop the ability to think logically (9+) I realized that, hey, God makes perfect sense! So, I'm still a Christian and a logical thinker who has a great interest in Apologetics :).

Hey, I went Pagan first, my mum followed me because she thought it was cool.
Your mom is such a sheeple. Gosh.
Heh, mom.
Yes, just a little bit though,
I've kinda gone off the whole religion thing now.

I do not classify myself as a religious person even if i turned from Christianity to the follower of the Æsir. It was not the religion it self that called out to me rather than the rules of the religion, Hávamál.
