Ranged character since i like to survive my encounters (use other people as meatshields). But i sometimes go warrior since it means that i am the first to get to the loot and can grab any bright coloured ones.

Usually I tend to gravitate towards a Fighter. Blowing people up with a fireball is nice and all, but there's just something nice and personal about striking down my opponent with a good old fashioned sword.

I always tend to go towards the Fighter/Warrior archetype, because I want to use 2hded weapons and plate mail.

Usually those sets seems to look the most awesome. Not really into leather or robes so yeah.

Hahaha...silly little Rogue. See, us Mages can blow shit up before it even touches us.

Oh whats that? You're in range? Lemme teleport.

Now I freeze you in place and laugh.

Hahahahaha.

Oh you're an assassin and you think your gonna come from behind and kill me?
Arcane shields and magical armors kinda sorta preventing that.
Why'd I want to kill you? You'll just notice your money pouch is gone when I'm around the corner, is all. That is, after we've had a pleasant chat and a drink in one of the local watering holes. Sheesh.

Mages. Win. Everything. :)
Oh, they do...when they're the current FOTM.
Silly thief, do you know how fucking EXPENSIVE magic scrolls are?

Enjoy those 2 gold coins.

I prefer the spellblade, myself. Speed above tankiness (You can't hit what you can't catch, after all), and concealment spells don't hurt.

I love sneaky, thief-ey characters. The stealth mechanics don't even have to be good. I'll roll a fucking thief in morrowind so long as I can sneak-attack crit people.

Eh, shouldn't have too much money on me at any time anyway. I'll just spend it all on booze and wenches, like any self-respecting rogue.

I like playing as a versatile character, so probably more like a ranger type class.

I like to be slightly sneaky, so that I can get into position with my bow, but also have enough health to win in a straight up fight if need be. Basically I either make my character able to dodge easily or take a lot of damage, and slowly wear down an opponant.

I like to focus on dexterity and charisma, with some emphasis on endurance. It really depends on the game though.

Rogue. Shadows, daggers, and shortbows are all I need. I usually like more of an agility build than a charisma build. You don't need to talk your way out of a situation if the target never even knows you're there. You can also avoid fights you can't win. If the option is available to me, some minor magical augments, usually from the illusion branch of spells, come in handy for not getting spotted or heard.

Spellblade seems really appealing. Sneaky, and then you can double your sneaky with illusion spells and suchlike. So I voted that.

Although I tend to play all the classes (in a video game anyways). I haven't really done any DnDing, and Shadowrun doesn't really lend itself to archetypes quite so well, unless you actually choose one of the types in the books (I did not).

damnit, LOCKPICKING!!!
In my day, there were spells specifically for unlocking things. There were even spells for locating traps or, at the very least, safely triggering them.
are we talking about "swirly ball" from WoW?

I seem to remember mages in wow crying about rogues for at least 3 years.

By the way, I'm pretty sure the warrior/mage combo would be a battlemage. :)
There's a lot of names for the caster/fighter combo-class. Battlemage is one of them, so is Magi-Knight. Arcane Warrior from Dragon Age: Origins is a good one. Pick whichever synonym you like. :p

Healer = caster class, that's what I meant when I said "When you boil all the classes down to their core elements, they're either a caster, a fighter, or a rogue."

That's one of the things I always loved about WoW PVP, it was pretty well balanced with each class being strong against some while getting their ass kicked by others.

For instance, as a Warlock player, I could eat mages and rogues alive, but get my ass kicked by warriors and hunters. Conversely, my mage friends could absolutely destroy warriors and hunters while getting their asses kicked by rogues and warlocks.

It can be fun healing people only so that they can get the living daylights beaten out of themselves again tho, sometimes...

I usually play as a kind of sneaky warrior kind of guy. Like in Skyrim I'll try to take out enemies with my bow first, but if they see me/don't die with that hit I will not hesitate to bash their skulls in with an axe.

What, no "healer/cleric/white mage" class?

Meh, anyway, I'd be some sort of Mage-knight. Explosions, lasers, AND brute physical force all in once package.

I accidently clicked fighter :|. I meant rogue. I am usually one of the more dexterous classes. I love assassins and sneaky or regular archers. I will go mage if the game does magic well but not a lot of games do.

Ranger all the way here. If it were just down to the big three, Rogue is definitely my favorite, but given an oppurtunity to play a rogue/fighter hybrid, that's what I go for. I like being able to duke it out when the stealth fails.

Also, even as a rogue, I like to have ranged stealth options.
