AHH! A girl! Quick, run away! Girls are scary!

In all seriousness though, nothing at all. If they just popped in and said hi to everyone while the game is starting then I do nothing and just get on with the game. If they're attention seekers, I usually leave and find a different game.
Note: Counterstrike: Source experience here. I don't have a 360, but from my experience with a mates Live account, the CS:S community is worse.

Um, nothing

I am with girls on XBL and in real life all the time so I don't really get that shocked unless im playing Gears of War. Then it's weird
Girls who like chainsaws? That isn't weird, it's awesome.
I remember like 2 years ago hearing about a couple who got married and they met playing Counter-strike online. lol reall though its a great place to meet people. And people always underestimate girls way too much. There like oh its a girl quick dance around her funny and make faces and then shoot in random directions...most of the girls just knife the idiot and play on. It's really annoying you know play it like real life , if you get along great go do something if you don't...shoot or send ur doodz to her base. Course its always funny to see the one 12 year old try to hit on girls...ohh http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Azl2HbVQb5E&feature=related

im all for girl gamers really. any girl willing to play video games has to be pretty badass in my book. its really pathetic that all the morons out there ruin gaming for everyone else due to stupid things like gender or pathetic slurs about ones sexuality. i dont know how many times a day i hear "fag" or "queer" on XBL. i wish kids under 12 werent allowed to play video games online due to their inability to accept other people besides themselves.
seconded.

Well, if my most recent experience is anything to go by, I hide in a corner and cry while she kicks the shit out of me on Gears.
I'll get you back IceQueen. One of these days.....

I don't make a big deal out of it, maybe a casual hello and if I enjoy playing matches with them I'll send a friend request so we can play more matches. This is the same policy that I apply to male players as well, I see no reason why I should respond any differently.

If on the opposing team hunt down as ruthlessly as everyone else and occasionally they'll try to play the girl card which crumbles before my might. Or if there on my team try to coordinate attacks and defenses with them (from my experiences girls are way easier to coordinate with then most guys)...

I don't have an xbox.

So, uh, yeah.

Although most of the TF2 servers I play on have quite a few girls frequently playing there.

I wonder why the hell I'm on xbox live, shut that crap off and go back to playing MP games on my PC where I don't have to deal with 11 year olds screaming into the microphone.

Who cares about girls playing games online? Whoopdeedoo. Hell, if you they didn't announce they were girls, most of the time you'd just assume they were loud mouthed 12 year olds (closer to the truth than most would admit).

She'll get treated the same way anyone else does on Xbox Live; cussed at by every 12 year old with a mic. I'll be nice as I am with everyone to begin with. I see if people are going to annoy me. If they do, I hit the mute button. Gender does not factor in.

There are girls on XBL? Kidding, please don't hit me.

First time I played with I girl, I was playing L4D and had just left a match where I was killed by my teammates for no reason. I asked "You're not going to shoot me too, are you?" When she said "no" (and I realized she was a girl), I almost said, "Neat. I've never knowingly played with a girl before." Stopped myself before I said it though because I was afraid she'd think I was hitting on her or being rude or something.

She left about five minutes into the game anyway. Guess she didn't want to play with me.

i dont think of them as girls, just "fellow gamers". Unlike that silly person, i dont flash my vegetables at her over the camera while playing UNO and get a 7000 year ban.

Obviously, there are no girls on the internets.

Beyond that, I don't treat they any different to any other person on XBL. So, I pwn them n00bs.

I've got a few female XBL friends, some of whom are IRL friends, some of whom are just cool people I've played alongside. Generally though, it seems that given the high XY to XX ratio on XBL, most girls either just shut up or become kind of annoying in a 'taken for granted I'm special!' way.

...Should I react differently than if it was a guy?

I'm sorry, but beyond being a little more polite (old echo of chivalry), I don't treat girls different from guys. I buy into the whole "Equality of the Genders" thing, so I don't see why I should act as if they're some other species.

Usually annoyance, not because I have anything wrong with girl playing games at all, I have simply had the misfortune to only come across the type of girl gamers who give the nice ones a bad name.

They either have a stereotypical name with either '69' 'sexi' or something like that in it, make a huge deal out of being a woman in their profile "I am Grrl Gamer get over it" or get extremely pissed off when I (or other people) don't suck up to them just because they happen to be of the opposite sex.

Sadly the type of girls you find on here don't seem to end up in the same games as myself on Live, the ability to have a real conversation and a laugh without all this dramatic male/female bullshit would be nice.

Don't get me wrong, I'd be delighted to meet a girl who loves gaming, but when I am on Live I go on there to play games, not hit on girls or listen to them flirt with a bunch of desperate guys.

That said I rarely speak to non-friends any more on Live anyway.

Being a woman, it doesn't really affect me. =P

In many cases, tho, I don't tell folks I'm a woman until I've gotten used to them. If I'm running with complete strangers that I'll never play with again, it's not even a debate of "should I or shouldn't I?".
