Hmmm... you've yet to be tainted by the inevitable knowledge that human nature prevents mankind from being a peaceful race... Interesting...PersianLlama said:Or humans could just not fight.asiepshtain said:Whatever they think I could do the most good in, its what I did when I was drafted for real.
It disappoints me to see such a low level of courage here sometimes, either you fight or someone else has to fight for you. We all die eventually, better to live a shorter life of meaning then twenty more years as a coward which serves nothing but himself.
And what's wrong with that? You're getting paid as military personnel and you'll be feeding troops near the front, so if some enemies decide to crash the dinner party, you should be able to defend your shipmates and let the U.K. government get their money's worth. It's much the same in every military: regardless of your job, you receive weapons training.Psepha said:I'm not convinced by some of the options such as behind the lines support where you'd never have to touch a weapon... I know that in Britain, even the cooks in the navy are made to train in weaponary.
But that aside, assuming it was possible, I'd take something like civilian service where I never had to touch a gun. Ever. I'm not going to pretend it's for some noble reason such as killing is wrong, or disagreeing with war. It's because few things terrify me more than guns.
Other animals don't go to war. They may fight sometimes, but they don't go to war.angryscotsman93 said:Hmmm... you've yet to be tainted by the inevitable knowledge that human nature prevents mankind from being a peaceful race... Nope, because then if even only one human does fights he always wins. Creating a very unstable system. I would recommend dawkins "selfish gene" it has some very good stuff about behavior systems and the way they stabilize.PersianLlama said:Or humans could just not fight.asiepshtain said:Whatever they think I could do the most good in, its what I did when I was drafted for real.

A sniper role is most definitely not "long range" but rather very much a front line one. Long range in combat means artillery.Levaetus said:Long Range...I love to snipe
I'm planning to, mate.SakSak said:EDIT: And to the ASSHATS who are calling out "coward" I'm taking as many men 18-35 with me as I can. You all can go fight in their place.
