TV Tropes is a very interesting site, to be sure.

I've spent hours learning about interesting ways writers enrich their works, and it's proven useful to me for creative writing discussion in college. Since my English is far from perfect, and certain references sometimes fly over my head, this site has helped me understand certain aspects of the English language that may be strange to non-native speakers.

I voted for "about 90 tabs" because I am in the process of analyzing a book for my creative writing class.

I like it alright. It's neat to find out where certain "givens" come from.

The only thing I have against it is that they can't seem to explain anything without dropping links to about 400 other tropes in the process. It gets confusing if they're trying to explain one by saying it's like "this" and "that" if you're not familiar with "this" or "that", either. Because when you go to THOSE links, it's the same thing.. more links as explanations.

It's extremely educational and extremely time consuming. I try to steer clear of it on my days off, because once I get there I'm stuck ALL DAY LONG.

Honestly, as someone who enjoys fiction in most aspects (conceptualizing, reading/watching and analyzing), it's perhaps unsurprising that TVTropes is one of my most visited sites on the web. It's just that fun for me.

Well, you've saved me some time in typing my opinion. The TvTropes homepage is on my Chrome's top visited sites. I can always go there and click the random button if I'm bored.

I love it, the den of naive positivity that it is. You can go to almost any page about anything and find no bashing - just a nice place for the fans of that particular thing to go. A quote on the main page sums it up for me:

We are also not a wiki for bashing things. Once again, we're about celebrating fiction, not showing off how snide and sarcastic we can be.
I want more websites to be like that. It's like Yes said in that one song [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Qk6gHVRzTE]: Don't underrate, appreciate.

It's gotten better recently. Axing the "Troper Tales" section in particular was probably a good decision for overall quality, though I will miss all the teenagers talking about how badass they are because they own a trench coat.

I went on it quite a bit when I discovered it a few months ago, but then I got the same trojan at least 3 times from the website despite having virus protection that even bounces porn site viruses away, so now I don't go there anymore because I fear my computer will get digital herpes. They seriously need to get some secure connections and some god damn firewalls on there before I visit again.

While I dislike the admin staff, I still think one of your options should be "TvTropes will ruin your life, and you'll love every second of it."

However, losing the Troper Tales page and eliminating IJBM so Headscratchers is there instead lost quite a few awesome arguments.

Thank god that Darth Wiki exists for the opposite side of the happy setting. So vicious.

It kind of handy to read that tv show cliches but it kind of hard to find that perticular trope due to the fact it is called something else and not the specific wordings you're thinking off.

I love it and usually go through an entire index every so often,it's also my weird way of choosing an anime to watch.

I love TvTropes. The wiki is very interesting, and I love hanging out on the forums. It's one of those places where everybody knows your name.

Tvtropes is my main source for discovering new pieces of fiction. Also, great (actually horrible) for your vocabulary.

There's an inordinate number of anime tropes on the site that it's astounding. Compare the average list of tropes aligned to a single anime, and much of the time they dwarf the closest contemporary list.

At least until you reach the Trope Overdosed pages like 40K. Good god, I tried going through that list, and it took me nearly three hours.

For a while I always had about 30 tabs of it open at any given point. Now, if I watch something new then I will look at the trope page to see what it's got and maybe expand a bit, I haven't had more than about 5 tabs for months now.
Does this make me a recovering Tropeaholic?

I like it is a fun educational read. It has also introduced me to many works of fiction and types of stories I wouldn't have engaged in otherwise.
