When i first got Gold i think I picked Chikorita, I always went for the Grass type, but because of this I think I am going to go for Totodile (even though in my most recent playthrough he was my starter) because I don't want the game to be too hard or too easy, and Totodile is cool.will1182 said:Cyndaquil, because he was my starter in Gold.
You'd be crazy to pick Chikorita. Not only does she/he/it suck dramatically, but the first gym is flying type and the second is bug type. Have fun with that...
Also, Geodude makes the fight against Miltank (3rd or 4th? Can't remember) a cake walk.Nitpicker of the Wastes said:Chikorita.
I've always been picking the Fire-type because it's always been the powerhouse (except in Johto's case, where Totodile is), but I've changed my mind.
I've also been thinking about getting a few more defensive 'mons on my team; Chikorita's the only starter designed for that. Shuckle just isn't cutting it!

That's what the Geodudes are for.
New stats system...Moves are based of Spec Atk or Atk individually...no longer just types. Flame Wheel is now based off attack...Hope Thph'y makes it okay.Travis Austin said:Cyndaquil because my Typhlosion just dominated everything.
I'm also going to use the same party I did in Crystal.
While his Attack is less than his Sp.Atk., he has better moves than Flame Wheel. Like Lava Plume, Flamethrower, and Eruption, all with a base attack of 100, and all special-type moves. Eruption is also based on Typhlosion's HP, and since he has the highest Speed stat of the three Level 2 starters, he should be fine.Onyx Oblivion said:New stats system...Moves are based of Spec Atk or Atk individually...no longer just types. The challenge is exactly why I'm taking Chikorita as my starter. Also, it was the first shiny Pokemon I ever got... Took ages, too...will1182 said:You'd be crazy to pick Chikorita. Oh, wait, Gold? Silver? Bah, I am behind on the times.
This will be my first time getting into this game, even if it is a rerelease. I will decide upon who looks the most bad-ass.
Feraligator is gonna rock. Ice Punch and Earthquake!Heart of Darkness said:While his Attack is less than his Sp.Atk., he has better moves than Flame Wheel. He'll be fine. Save Flame Wheel for Flareon. EDIT: If it could actually learn it. Only useful Fire move is Fire Fang...
EDIT2: Dammit, I got the base damages wrong. Stupid me looking at accuracy instead...
In order, it goes 80, 95, and 150. Again, he'll be fine.
Wanna trade?fleethall said:I guess I'll start with Totodile and trade a Charmander from my Platinum to be my fire type.
Yeah, I'm that guy.
Typhlosion can also learn Gyro Ball, Thunderpunch, Rollout, Solarbeam, and Earthquake.Onyx Oblivion said:Feraligator is gonna rock. Meganium is gonna get better, too.
Flareon doesn't learn Flame Wheel...And still sucks. WHY MUST MY FAVORITE POKEMON SUCK?!
