Sorry, but that was just irking my chain.Jesus Phish said:From what I can tell, Pop Culture. No, that's crazy talk. you're both alternate dimension versions of ME. *Dun dun DUUUUUUUUNN!!!!*Jefw said:Would you happen to be an alternate dimension version of me?
To much in common to be a coincidence.
Basically this. The first season had some clever pop culture commentary and the whole thing was presented in an ironic manner with a good sense of humor. For the second season they've decided to abandon all that for fan-service and cashing on covers. Plus yeah, pathetic attempts at drama.badgersprite said:Nothing. It has no plot, meaning, purpose or message. And I say this as someone who used to be in the fandom for it.
Basically, the show is about random one-liners interspersed with musical numbers and really bad attempts at drama.
Dont forget the handicapped kid. You cant spell politically correct without 'Handicapped kid'Jesus Phish said:From what I can tell, Pop Culture. When you put it like that it sounds like Dante Alighieri himself created Glee.calvincaplan said:high school musical. every week.

I haven't actually hated on it yet, but, I will now so I'll answer the question first. Yes, I watched an entire 5 episodes of it due to everyone I know saying how amazing it apparently was before I finally decided "Screw it".avelmen1889 said:a quick question, has anyone who posted on this forum hating it actualy seen the show?
Wow, Damon Albarn sure came off as an ineloquent idiot there...and I actually quite like his stuff.Popido said:Relevant
Whats it about?...Uuh.. kids being uncool, BUT SUDDENLY its cool to be differenderp.
It's a reasonably entertaining show about high school drama, singing, and a fucking hilarious cheerleading coach. Seriously, you need to watch the show just for Sue Sullivan.henritje said:I got beaten to death by Glee commercials on That Guy With The Glasses and they are planning to air it on Dutch TV channels and I would like to know what its about
Great post.avelmen1889 said:"Welcome to Glee, where every episode is the Musical Episode. Trust us, it's Better Than It Sounds.
Glee is about a high school teacher's attempts to organize the glee club while dealing with his own personal issues. The first episode alone featured music from such disparate sources as Journey and Guys And Dolls, and the show goes on to showcase everything from Charlie Chaplin to Lady Gaga.
The musical numbers are usually given an in-universe justification with the activities of the glee club, instead of seemingly springing fully formed from the minds of characters in normal situations, as with most musicals. The effect is very... postmodern. That Reminds Me Of A Song is in full effect. From time to time, an individual does just break into a full-on song and dance sequence with back-up dancers and props and so forth, and it cuts from location to location mid-stream like a music video; based on contextual clues these moments appear to be taking place in the individual's thoughts.
Tons of character stereotypes show up to the point of reviving a few Dead Horse Tropes."

I've tried watching it and can't stand it. I actually kind of enjoy it for a while, but then they break out into song. My god the singing is absolutely unbearable o-Oavelmen1889 said:a quick question, has anyone who posted on this forum hating it actualy seen the show?
See, the kid in the wheelchair is hilarious. It's pretty subtle, but frequent enough that I'm sure it's intentional, that when the teacher says something like "Get out of those chairs and dance!" the camera will linger slightly too long on the wheelchair kid. Or when he pretends to play a guitar solo on stage, so they have the asian girl spin his chair in circles. I got the impression that the show was mocking the PC crowd more than appeasing them.SovietX said:Dont forget the handicapped kid. You cant spell politically correct without 'Handicapped kid'
