The first orginal one, that one will always be special for those reasons,
but i would grant that the 2nd ones were good as well.

Gold & silver definately!!!

When pokemon had witty names related to their appearance or type. Rather than going "how bout Paaallll-kiiaaaa?"

First, because it introduced us to it. I couldn't get into the Gold/Silver games myself. Euby/Saphire was amazing. I only played Diamond Pearl so I could trade with my online friends.

The first generation of pokemon was definately the best and most original, however I tolerated playing through the later games because they (obviously) looked nicer and I had nothing better to do with my life.

I gotta say the second generation (Gold/Silver/Crystal) because it did the one thing no other pokemon game did: It let you go back to the first generation's area and conquer their gyms with a super-team. Plus, it made revisions to bugs in the original game (like how Ghosts couldn't hit Psychics), added in the day/night cycle and communication with other trainers, new types, re-working how old pokemon operated, held items and other long-running staples of the pokemon games.

In short, it was exactly what a sequel was supposed to do; it took what the first game did and expanded on it.
I despise the day night cycle. Waking up early to catch a fucking ladybug is bullshit.

LOL yeah i have to admit that got me there. and what you said about ALL the pokemon being in the pokedex

wtf why is celebi and mew included in the pokedex now? there is truly no goddamned way to "catch them all"!!!!

Probably the original. See, Pokemon Yellow was one of my first games, and I also watched the TV shows and played the card game. So I kind of grew up on Pokemon. It's a nice childhood memory of mine. So I would say the original, but Platinum is one of my favorites right now. This is a hard decision.

I liked Ruby/Saphire/Emerald, but Saphire was the first Poke'mon game I played...

[small]Was a bit late to the Poke'mon bandwagon...[/small]
You know, if you want to put in the "é" in Pokémon just type "& eacute ;" without the speech marks or spaces.

<url=http://www.w3schools.com/tags/ref_entities.asp>Fairly comprehensive list of similar symbol whatsits here, hit "next reference" for more. They all work here, as far as I know.

OT: Generation 2 for me - Crystal was the first one I played, and it wasn't as complicated as the later instalments. Plus they thankfully nerfed the Psychic type a bit.

Easy way to get around that is just to lie when they ask you to put in the time so that you can play both day and night at times that suit you. I did this for a night only game, cause Noctowl kicked ass

My hatred for Pokeymanns is greater than the heat of a thousand suns.
I hate the originals the least though.

Except unlike Bidoof you just can't fucking get them. And then after all that they go as far as to make it so you can't use action replay or anything to get the pokemon you have literally no way of getting but they include in your pokedex, forever mocking you.

***** move nintendo..... ***** move....

I never played the 3rd generation, but between the 1st and 2nd I'd definitely go with the first. Some of the pokemon in gold/silver just look so lazy and uncreative. I remember there were at least 5 different pokemon I caught who's designs were barely more then a circle with a smiley face and some kind of tail. Terrible.
