I think it was either Totodile or Cyndaquil, since the first Pokemon game I owned was Gold version.

Squirtle. I think it was because I had Blue version, so the colors matched... besides, there was Blastoise on the cover and he looked awesome.

Although I didn't really use him to beat the first gym though, that was always left up to level 10 Butterfree with Confusion. My third or fourth Pokemon ever (3rd I've ever used, I was never too fond of Rattata.)

Squirtle. I had a Blue GameBoy Colour, I had Pokemon Blue Version, and I wanted a Blue Pokemon so I chose the Blue one. Since then I've always had a fondness for Water Types...

I got my first pokemon game (gold) from my brother
It had a level..
100 Ho-Ho
100 Celebi
100 Mew
100 Mewtwo
100 Charizard
And a 100 Typhlosion..

Was a good day to be me. I only used Mew because back then I thought he was "cute" (I was like 7!). Eventually I started a new game and got punched in the face by my brother

Charmander! I've always found the fire Pokemon to be my favorite for some reason. Not really because of how they battle, but they just seem cooler looking than the other types to me. My brother's first was Squirtle, and my boyfriend's first was Bulbasaur. (YES, I remember these things! )

Also, I HATE how they slowly weeded out the fire Pokemon!! Last one I played literally only had ONE. FIRE TYPE. Ponyta.

Probably the most surprising thing I've seen posted here. I guess I just assumed most people used ditto exclusively to breed all pokemon, thereby making the gender of the partner mostly irrelevant.

true but if you dont have a ditto theres a huge number of pokies you could breed with a female starter with to get a new one, for example, a female sceptile will happily breed with a male salamence. i remember once i wanted a female treeko so i could breed it with a bagon so the baby treeko would know dragon breath, i ended up with about 20 males! T~T

yeah that is true, i just waited till after the elite 4 and caught a growlith (theyre cool beyond words)
