It will be remembered for (in attempted chronological order):

The USS Cole

George Bush's election

9/11

The U.S. invasion of Afghanistan

The U.S. invasion of Iraq

George Bush's reelection

The London subway bombings

The execution of Sadam Hussein

25% approval ratings for the most incompetent president in the history of the U.S.

Ignorant people accuse Obama of being a socialist, which he's not; not a citizen, which he is; and a Muslim, which he's not and it wouldn't matter if he was.

Despite said ignorant people- Obama becomes nations first black president, everyone is hopeful about the future.

No one is really hopeful about the future anymore

That might not be what everyone else remembers the decade for- but its what I will.

The invention of personal flight devices. Wait, they didn't invent those?

Then it was a shitty decade and all of you are as shitty for living in it!

(Just kidding etc etc)

I went with the "Shit decade" answer. Nothing good happened in the 2000s: Terrorism, internet increasing fanboyism, America's quest to find the missing WMD, world economy going to shit, Kayne West, Somalian pirates, twitter/facebook/myspace/blogging giving people the false impression that their lives are exciting and others want to read about them, Mad Cow disease/ avian flu/ swine flu, massive tsunamis (fuck you New Orleans, Katrina was nothing), Larry the Cable Guy, "reality" tv, emo kids trying to take the title of "Shittiest Hair Ever" from Flock of Seagulls, etc.

Well, it showed that to be famous on TV, you needed to be really stupid.
(See: I Love New York, New York Goes to Hollywood)
Whoever decided that dumb attention whore needed her own show, oh I'm sorry, TWO SHOWS, must have a death wish.

As for me, it was the (further) rise of Toonami. Until it's cancelation in 2007, then I flipped a *****.

the memories of when man ruled the earth before the monkeys will rose up and took control of the earth. It'll be like Ape Escape. With less nets and more violence.

I have seen no reason why music from the 2000's should be remembered for any other reason on how not to do it. The vast majority of films have been terriable as well. I will remeber it for how technology became more than the idle plaything of the nerds and well off and become cheap and afordable for all. The advancement in graphics and AI will make games as remered as well.
Thouhg the Ai statement is questionable, as I still find some of the best I have encountered is the Half Life Marines.

I think this decade was a good year for film: Gladiator, LOTR series, Slumdog Millionare, Avatar, etc.

As for music, the only major change was that Rock was knocked from its perch by hip/hop and rap. No new innovative sounds really in my opinion though. That is up for possible debate I guess but whatever.

I wont even get into how shit the majority of TV has been this decade really. There have been some standout shows but they have been eclipsed by all the junk.

I think games have taken one of the biggest steps this decade. Graphics, storytelling, and gameplay mechanics have all made major progress and this industry has exploded into something to rival TV and movies.

As for tech, iPod, iPhone(and most cellphones), raw computing power progress, battery life, internet and internet speeds, GPS navigation, and much much more. Tech and gadgets have definitely made the biggest impact on this decade in the entertainment industry. They have changed the way the majority of the modern world live their everyday lives.

The decade that people in the next decade remember as the decade they enjoyed as an individual, and regretted as a culture.
