Another one that hasn't been mentioned much is the Ordo Malleus. They're so tough that when they come in, the Space Marine just get out of the way
Maybe you should have a look at the hierarchy of the W40k verse... the Ordo Malleus - even as a whole - has no jurisdiction over Space Marines (except the 666th chapter, the Grey Knights, which are the chamber militant of the Ordo), and inquisitors can bark orders all they want, the chapters are autonomous and don't have to do anything they don't see fit to do.

I put IG because I like them in DoW and I play that a lot more than I even touch my warhammer, but in actual figures it has to be space marines (black templars)

I play Eldar. I love the customization involved with all their very specific units. Almost all of them serve only a specific task, and trying to create the perfect mix is a wonderful process.

I meant the Grey Knights specifically (sorry about the the ambiguity), though in general if any part of the Ordo Malleus comes in, it means that it's a Chaos-specific battle, and since the Ordo is specifically geared towards fighting daemons, the Space Marines would tend to let them do their job. Also, if an Inquisitor deems a chapter 'heretical', he does have the power to ex-communicate them (for example with the Soul Drinkers), which I consider serious jurisdiction over them.

A lone inquisitor couldn't excommunicate a whole chapter, could he? (Haven't read Soul Drinkers yet, so I truly don't know) It was my impression until now that an Ordo as a whole, or at least the Segmentum branch of an Ordo could excommunicate a chapter. But anyway, an inquisitor not being assisted by a chapter at a whim would hardly be solid grounds for a punishment of that degree...

In the respect of not following orders an inquisitor can't ex-communicate them, but in the case of the Soul Drinkers an inquisitor did single-handedly ex-communicate them because they fought with the Adeptus Mechanicus over an artifact (don't worry, it's not a spoiler it happens at the start of the book)

In addition the Ordo Malleus does have the job of ensuring of the purity in the Imperium, and the Adeptus Astartes do fall under that sphere of influence, though not to the level of an inquisitor commandeering anything they want, but damn close to it.

It depends on the settings. Space marines if its standard setings, and orks if its quick start, I rush well as orks =]

Imperial Guard for a few reasons :)
1. I enjoy collecting them.
2. Tanks are great.
3. The 'only human' aspect of them.
4. The different ways that the various regiments are portrayed in the Gaunt's Ghosts books.
