I personally think lolita-complexes (fuck memes) indicates sexual attraction to underdeveloped, and in some cases, simply under-age girls.

Sexual attractions work by the notion that the person at some point in his/her life will achieve sexual release with a member of the demographic they find sexually attractive.

Thankfully, this is a big moral crime (in the civilized world), and a BIG legal crime. It shouldn't change to anything else, except perhaps carry a much harsher penalty.

The idea of being sexually attracted to underage girls is God damned creepy.

I guess in a roundabout way I'd rather someone look at drawings of make believe little girls than actually go out and diddle children but that doesn't change the fact that it's the behavior of a sexual deviant.

Now if you're just talking about a preference for a clothing style then fine whatever. Do as you please.

(Beardback-tan condemns lolicon)

Hello escapist! I come here asking your opinion on lolicon. Most specifically its morality and definition.

According to Google translate "rorikon" in japanese gives pedophile in english. This definition sort of irked me as in my opinion being a lolicon isn't the same as pedophilia although in some circles, I admit, it is.

So here we are Escapist, what is your opinion?
To keep things clear: In all other countries except Japan itself, lolicon is known as 'liking anime's and manga's with very young girls in it'. In Japan, lolicon is known as 'pedophelia in general'.

That aside, my personal opinion is that it's something you shouldn't be proud of. Getting turned on from looking at erotically posed young girls is, in my eyes, quite wrong.

Higurashi...good choice. Although the animation and voicing puts me off a bit. Enjoyable plots though.
I love all of it, so much that I have a growing pile of Higurashi manga, and Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai on DVD >.>
Still searching for the visual novel in English >.>
If you can bear digital distribution, I posted a link to the store selling the English subbed version of the Higurashi VN question and answer arcs in the user group news feed [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/Higurashi-no-Naku-Koro-ni] a while back ("Back to basics?").

If you don't already have it, the first season can also be purchased on DVD. It even has an American release [http://www.amazon.com/When-They-Cry-Complete-Collection/dp/B00358MG7O] (had to import it from the US, as it's not in the EU).

OT: Thrown in my two cents [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.232424-Poll-Whats-your-opinion-on-Loli-and-Lolicon?page=4#8171074] already.

They're cartoons, and anime-cartoons at that. They look more like light sockets than human beings or kids. If that's your thing, knock yourself out. History has learned that suppressing sexual desires is extremely dangerous and leads to some really messed up people becoming even more messed up. If there's a way to avoid that by simply letting them look at a drawn picture, I'd say that's beneficial.

Seriously though, it's fine if you're into that or whatever, but it is a little creepy. And then there's hentai which has coerced sex or tentacles.
Am I the only one who likes the 2% that isn't insanely perverted in any way?

Or am I missing the point?

It's just an art style, no more fucked up than anything else in hentai. It's just a different form of it. While the depictions are of children or fully grown women who happen to look like children, it doesn't mean the person viewing or drawing is a pedophile.
As a fellow viewer of lolicon of both the normal and hentai variety, I second this. I may like the anime style depiction of girls/under developed women, but I find the sexualisation of actual young girls to be hideously repulsive and fervently hope that any pedophiles that act on their urges die horribly painful deaths. Preferably something that involves fire or chainsaws.

They're the ones leaving things in comments about how they've claimed to fuck their 6 year old sister or how much they wish the drawing was real.
And thank you for reminding me of stuff I try not to remember.

You're never the only one. I like the completely vanilla stuff that doesn't involve demons, tentacles, lolicon etc, but I also quite enjoy the stuff that does involve demons, tentacles, lolicon etc.

I'm a twisted bastard through and through and I revel in my twistedness.

I'd say I find it a little disturbing, though so long as it's harmless and they keep it to themselves I'm indifferent.

While not as bad as the real thing, I would still say that lolicon is wrong and anyone who feels those urges should try to avoid it as much as possible... while I understand that no-one is being hurt by animated images, I happen like a lot of people to be very fond of children and so the idea of lolicon just seems sickening to me.

Perversion is normal.

People who need to rant about putting sewing needles in the eyes of those who have impure thoughts should talk less.

I don't think it's even legal in the US. I know any other form of pornography involving minors is not, so I don't see why there would be an exception for a certain art style.
