Well see the problem remains in the effect .. for example 'Lolita' (the book, not the immortally awesome variety of fashion genres) is artistic and the effect is not to arouse but to tell a story of a 12 year old girl who caught the eye of a pedophile and the reprehensible world of an underground criminal society of sickoes in Europe.
CP is meant to sexually arouse, and as such should be crushed and it's peddlers be dealt with in the harshest possible way ... but is lolicon just trying to arouse people? Hmmmm ... ehhhh ...
I personally dislike lolicon, but I wouldn't hold it amongst the ranks of CP ... pedophiles are beasts that serve their twisted interests to corrupt their victims, not just sexually abuse them. They gain pleasure through the act or sight of another destroying the innocence of their victims.
So a pedophile probably wouldn't gain any arousal from lolicon whatsoever ... because there's little victimization. And that's what causes pedophiles to do what they do ... chemically castrate pedophiles and they will still destroy the lives of children.

I wouldnt declare him evil, but if his thoughts and actions contradict your own you cant think different then "what a creep". When i recall it right he had a disgust for how the youth are acting and behaving, though he feels attracted to one of them. Still, I do see what you're trying to get at, at least; I've always found the irony in the term lolicon interesting.

Ok the dictionary definition of paedophilia includes: 'sexual attraction towards children' and 'sexual acts towards children' Manga in the genre of shotacon and lolicon usually depict things of both these definitions, so I think its safe to say its almost as sick as looking at pictures of real children.
Don't forget (or if you didn't know) most of Japanese manga and anime (at some point) derive their popularity from sex crime acts contained within the story.
