Um...good thing, obviously.

This site is awesome, it will inevitably attract more people.

Everyone was a newb at some point.

Starting from when do you consider someone a newbie?
1-100 post.
...Really? You base "newbness" on post count? Thats a terrible way to go about it.
I agree. I go by date of joining and how they act.

Newbies are essential. N00bs are not. One group reads the stickied Forum Guidelines and thinks about whether or not a new thread will be useful or contribute something interesting to the site. The other group spams pointless repeat threads about popular games or their personal relationship problems.

Thank goodness the religion stuff finally got quarantined into its own section. The stupidity was spilling onto the main pages of the website.

Accidentally voted bad due to a misclick; more members is always a good thing.

Hooray for newbies! More people we can scare and intimidate. Mwahahahaha
We should have initiations. I have some ideas...
There are plenty of things I find scary about this forum, although probably not in the way that you're talking about :)

As has been stated a plethora of times now, higher traffic is a good thing. Those who are bad for the community will likely be weeded out as has always happened.

I think we are in the middle of a member explosion. A lot of people joining us!

Good thing, or bad thing?
Meh, I joined the actual community after I watched every single ZP, then I fell in love with a view from the road. And I like posting.

Edit: And also, check your post count, one more for epic 1337-ness
ZP is the reason I joined as well. Plus I've always had a thing about internet forums, especially game forums. Not to mention the fact that I hate reading ignorant posts and not being able point out the ignorance myself. So I suppose you could say my joining the Escapist was a combination of mild fanboyism, consistent interest and personal quest for justice.

OT: Meh, it happens.
Wait wait... is it OP or OT?
OP: Opening Post(er)
OT: On-Topic.

...and my vote is Meh. Most of you guys weren't around for the Yahtzee-inspired population explosion. That's when most people (including me) joined.

It seems everyone in this thread except Ultrajoe have join dates in 2009. I'd say we're all "noobs". The other forums I visit I've had memebership on for 5+ years.
This. I know I wouldn't consider someone anything other than a newbie until they'd been around for a looooong time. It is rather odd how many 2009 people are here though.

I actually wonder how many people started visiting the Escapist itself (not the forums) at that time? I know it's been a weekly thing for me since about ZP 5 or something, it's just that I've only now gotten around to making an account.
