In my xfire profile nothing comes even close to the amount of time for BF2. It's extremely repayable and I plan on playing it as long as I game.

I never played Counter-stike source, dont know where to buy it. But I have Counter-strike 1.6, although I cant play online (dont know why, maybe because its not the actual CD) I love it though, so I say counter-strike. Im getting the orange box soon, so I will get to try out TF2, if thats the one were all talking about.

UT3 is absolute dogshit when compared to UT1/2004x. the only thing i like is they fixed the hellfire SPMA

the best online FPS games are:
UT2004x (#1 greatest game of all time, and i have yet to find another FPS as ridiculously fun)
CS:S
the entire Battlefield series

i havent played TF2, but ill put it #4 on the list because of what i hear about it

UT3 wasn't bad at all. Played the campaign all the way thru and it was fun. I mean come on, hover boards in a FPS, that was awesome. Oh and that Leviathan. >

My personal favourites are CoD4 and Bad company. I like CoD4 for it's online and battlefield more for it's campaign. I would like bad company's online more if I didn't get destroyed every time I log on and joined a match. WHY ARE YOU SO MUCH BETTER THAN ME!!

Frontlines Fuel of War is one of my all time favs
Quake 1 was amazing online(if it counts as it was very much singleplayer)
Unreal Tournament series is good
CoD is also a huge favorite of mine(any of them, esp 2 tho)
Medal of Honour AA was really good back in the day

I don't think you can put Frontline Fuels of war on this list. It never seemed to reached legendary status.
You are missing a lot of the Old school FPS that made the genera what it is today, as many have told you before.

Of the ones listed, definetly Battlefield 1942. Battlefield 2 was great, but 1942 started it all. Everything was so huge and there was so many crazy things you could do, like go on a kamikaze attack but parachute out at the last minute, or sneak onto an enemy aircraft carrier, or charge across a desert in a tank. It was completely new, and completely awesome.

I feel like if your even talking about the single player in a UT game then chances are it was a terrible UT game.

I like CS:S a bit, but I can't really convince myself it's the best. Same thing with CoD(PC!) because I've only played WaW, since I got it free. Except WaW is way better than CS:S.
My all time favorite has to be TF2.

Care to explain? You only said it was bad. I like it, and the multiplayer, but UT3 was never legendary. All you're saying is "UT3 is shit" and this other guy destroyed you with logic.

I think battlefield 2 was and is totally awsome, even now when its graphics are outdated, but obviously counter strike source is cool aswell, and COD 4/5 are addictive and awsome....so yeah which one is better and why? (um also sorry for the short poll options, i'm really tired and some shooters could be classified under different categories etc, otherwise sorry for being a reletively uneducated heathen when it comes to shooters, but seriously of the 3 mentioned above I'd say I am damn good at and a pretty hardcore player of.....but don't think I just play shooters....I'm not a mindless COD zombie....honest....no but really i'm not)

all of the choices aren't legendary; perhaps they're good, but they aren't legendary,
hell, all of these games aren't even 10 years old..

My favorite "legend" in terms of a series is Quake, you really can't beat Quake 3. It has THE most famous weapons in online shooters, the Rocket Launcher and Railgun. Nothing beats those two guns.

As for legends themselves, I would call series legends, because most of them have sequels right now.
those would be:

Quake
Unreal Tournament
Counterstrike
Team Fortress
Tribes

and honestly, they're all wonderful games; Quake and UT are great deathmatch games, Counterstrike is easily the most irritating game you'll ever play, Team Fortress and Tribes are THE team play reliant games ever made (more than the Battlefields), and UT also has the distinction of being a really well rounded, variable first person shooter too, with UT2004 having great multiplayer modes besides Deathmatch.

nearly everything (excluding the hellfire and the primary fire of the scorpion) in UT3 is either broken, or far inferior to their Unreal Tournament 2004 editor's choice version. there is not even a single sniper map in UT3 which the other 2 versions and every other FPS has.
Warfare is nowhere near as fun as Onslaught or Assault, and the game lacks the shear number of multiplayer options that the other 2 games have.
