I play female characters almost exclusively, with just one exception when it comes to video games. For some reason I always play the stock John Shepard that comes with Mass Effect, because I feel like that was the original idea of the character and character creation just kind of was taped on at the last minute.

Always male because I find that NPCs addressing me as "ma'am" breaks immersion.

I'm male and I usually play male characters. I divert into a fairly even spread gender-wise in later playthroughs, in order to spice things up a bit.

I also feel that I should add, that there is no jiggling in mass effect. Everything is so...so firm. So very, very firm.

Normally I play with the same sex...just never liked playing as a chick, and in MMO's, that always leads to some creepy conversations. O.O

It depends on the game, and other factors.

I would never create a female Tauren, Troll, Draenei, Orc or a male Human, Blood Elf, Night Elf and Gnome in WoW.(all for their emotes and how they walk, gnome for the idiotic hairstyles)

In Mass Effect I never play a male Shepard because of Jennifer Hale [http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0354937/]. I mean, the choice of Voice Actor is Samus, Bastila Shan, Naomi Hunter or Male Shepard.(and I would have preferred Tim Curry [http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000347/] over Mark Meer [http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1035752/] as Male Shepard)

Most other games I play don't have talking protagonists, so I can't pick male/female based on voice actor but then it depends on how the equipment/character looks. I refuse to run around with a (fe)male character 'dressed' in a few strips of gauze and clothing has to look great or awesome. Some female characters still look like they're dressed in the amount of metal to create four or five tin cans, but damn if they're not the most awesome looking tin cans ever made.

When is Tim Curry not the best decision?

I personally flip a coin ... or sometimes put like a mini plot in my head of who my character is and stuff. Though sometimes the game itself for instance the FOnewm in PSO had a few advantages over the FOnewearl reguarding attack techs or something ... so I always made of FOnewm ... *shrugs* really I don't care! XD

It depends on the game.
If there is any kind of romance in the game, I choose male. Otherwise I randomly pick one.

[sub]Except if the female looks rea~lly atractive ofcourse[/sub]

It depends on what looks best, since sex never affects stats. I usually make Female characters though.

Either, in one PnP campaign I'm playin at the mo StarWars D20, I have a dude soldier, and in this other one I'm playing with the same group, just a different DM,I have a female paladin. But its different with RPG's, if I finish the game as a women or man, the next playthrough will be to the opposite gender to which the last playthrough was.

Depends on the game. In MMO's I never play female (I am male), in Mass Effect 1&2 I chose female from the start. In text based RPs I extremely rarely play female.

most of the time i will play as the male but sometimes it depends on how the male looks. in pokemon ruby and saphire i chose May because i thought the guy was ugly. also in my S4 league acount i play as a girl because for some reason i just believe that the girl dodges better than the boy, but i can switcg up any time i want.

I virtually always play female characters where the option exists. Especially in RPGs, where I strongly dislike playing as a male.

I guess, in the case of RPGs, it's partly because I never imagine the character as some extension of myself, but as a person in their own right. I guess if I were to be "adventuring" around with someone, not as someone, I would rather it be a female.

W I know many males hate playing as female characters, but at the same time, many prefer to play as females, because they'd rather watch a woman's ass jiggling as they run, rather than a man's.
Isn't the majority of female characters in WoW actually male?

Anyways OT, most of the time I'll play as a guy in games where I can fully customise my char, since well the obvious part of being a guy and I like to base my characters on myself whenever possible which now seems like I'm quite for up my own ass but still. Though I'll gladly play a female character in games if the options there, E.G Diablo 2 or Baldurs Gate. I think the only other time I've decided to play as a femal was years ago on runescape when I wanted guys to go out with me and give me free stuff, I got a fair bit of gold that way.

I'm male, but I always play a male character for the first runthrough and a female if there's a second runthrough. For a start, I like seeing both storylines if they vary. Secondly, any romance plot goes really wack if you're crossdressing :p

A bit of both, but surprisingly often female.

Reasons vary, in ME because I didnt like the look of default shepard, and I like the voice of female shepard a lot more than male. Although in ME I have also had male toons to play "that side".

Usually I find the female heroes to be easier on my eyes...plus its not often you see (good) female heroes in games or in movies/entertainment so when I can choose I choose chicks. Often.
