I seriously thought about it, but at the time, it was the easiest place to sell stuff and heal myself. I was also in the middle of the Survivor Guide quest. Next time though... Next time.
U can still complete it because Moira Brown becomes a ghoul in Underworld after.
Funny thing is I nuked the place only to get rid of Moira, I liked the other people.

I did not nuke Megaton, because that was back when I was trying to play a good character, before I realized that everything I stole cost me karma.

First playthrough, didn't nuke it, didn't even visit TenPenny towers.
Second playthrough, tried nuking it for a lark, felt bad about what happened to Moria, didn't finish this playthrough.
Current playthrough, leaving it alone, probably going to "clean out" TenPenny towers. (I understand convincing them to invite in the neighborhood ghouls performs that little task for me.)

I didn't nuke Megaton. Why? Well...

First of all, it's a nicer place to live. I can't think of living in Tenpenny Tower because the only person that I can STAND is Herbert Dashwood. Plus, it'd take longer to get into my room, and if I wanted to help Roy Philips gank the place - which I did - I'd have to give up my humble abode.

Second, Megaton is a pretty central location, and fun to hang around. It has a phony-balony religion like the one in Beneath the Planet of the Apes, an eccentric shop-owner who may as well BE Kaylee from Firefly, and a faux Irishman that runs a tavern.

Third, Wasteland Survival Guide sidequests. True, you can get these whether you bomb the place or not, but I like having my source of dangerous fun to be located where I live, along with the ammo, the easy repairs, and where the trade route is as well.

Fourth, I like it when Three Dog sings my praises. He's just cool that way and all.

I nuked it AFTER I did every quest in it. I coulda gotten a house though I suppose since almost all the beds in the nuked world seem to tell my character not to sleep in them because it isn't "theirs" despite that I'm the biggest cleptomaniac ever in those games.

I did it once, for my bad person; but my bad karma character is kinda crap at the moment so I will have to start again when the new expansion come out, then I'll blow Megaton up again.

I have to say, I didn't know about Moira turning Ghoul and one day I was walking by the crater and I see a Ghoul run up to me.
After a few moments I realize who it is and a wave of horror went through me; I actually FELT BAD about Ghoulifying her.
me too, I blew up Megaton before I cheacked it out, on the second playthrough I met moira and got her quest, then back on my first save I was expoling the city and went back to underworld to finish the you gotta shoot em in the head quest and I saw her, dident recognize her but thought "who is that?" and talked to her and I was staring at the scean for 5 minutes going "OMG did I realy do that?!" I dident talk to her outside Megaton until my fourth game wen I am still trying for nutrel karma (and failing) and I was quit shocked, not as mutch as I did before but still.....

Nuking is the wrong decision since the house in megaton is much more accesible than the apartment. Quick travel to megaton->walk to house->enter house.Quick travel to tenpenny tower->Open the gate->walk to tower->walk to elevator->walk to room->enter apartment.

I'd played a fair way through, the "good guy way," and then started wondering what would happen if I'd nuked Megaton.

First time, Mr. Burke made his proposition and I accepted, then I met the Sheriff and told him - after which I followed the Sheriff and watch as Burke killed the Sheriff and I drew my weapon and killed Burke. I didn't like how that came out, so I replayed, making sure Sheriff lived...

Later I started wondering what would happen if I'd played "the bad guy role"... My son had gone all the way through being an anti-Enclave goodguy, so I sstarted wondering what would happen if I pushed to work "pro-Enclave," or "nuke Megaton".... And I just nuked Megaton, and got my reward, and haven't gone any further yet.

I nuked it first and then I saved it with another character. I prefer tenpenny tower though.

Poll needs an "I have no idea what you're talking about" option...

Just for me. Since everyone else seems to know it.

How many of you decided that Megaton would be better off as a giant crater? How many thought that the good people of Megaton should be spared? And how many of you still can't decide if they should?

Personally, I didn't, because Megaton is a valuable resource of ammo, stimpacks, and beds to sleep in.
Same reason. I have an alternate save where I can blow it up though, just for ha-has.

I killed Burke, then I gunned down everyone in Megaton and stole everything from every shop. Then I went to Tenpenny Tower and decapitated Mr. Tenpenny with a combat shotgun. Then I set off the nuke anyway and killed everyone there. After that I let the Ghouls in, then killed them all and took their stuff.

It was fun.
