I haven't watched the show in awhile myself... maybe I should try to find it again, I did enjoy it when it was on the Escapist...

I used to watch it, but then I began to slowly but surely hate it. Now I couldn't care less what they have to say.

Jesus Christ, what is wrong with you people? It was one 2-part episode. All the episodes since have been in the regular format.

I still watch it, even after those two crappy "James talks" episodes, which I hated with a passion. Extra Credits went back to the episode format they usually use after that, so I forgave them for it, just as long as they aren't stupid enough to do that again.

I still watch those. It is a show I really like. The James episodes didn't bother me that much. They were about his problem with gaming addiction, or compulsion, whatever you want to call it, and in my opinion weren't bad, just different. I am pretty sure the only reason it isn't discuss here anymore is because they are not here anymore.

I watched 'em WAY before they came to the escapist. Wherever they go, I follow. :p I really like the show.

Although I couldn't stomach the second "game addiction" episode. I just couldn't watch it for some reason.

The rest of their stuff is damn good though.

Jimquisition isnt even close to being a show anything like extra credits plus i find it a somewhat obnoxious, uninformative show and dont much care for it.
I have never understood this dichotomy. Why is it that so many people feel like you can only like one or the other between EC and JQ? I liked EC back when it was on the escapist, but the Gaming Addiction episode smashed my interest so hard that it's difficult to find the pieces anymore. JQ started out poor, in my opinion, because Jim Sterling had always been a writer, not an actor, and it took him a while to figure out how to become one, but once he did the show has become quite good. I am still the same person who liked EC when they were here and I like JQ, so why does it seem like so many people feel that only one or the other can be good?
its not that i dont like EC its just i am too lazy to fire up my pc or laptop when ps3 turns on in 1/30th of the time. also jimquisition easily filled the hole left after EC. also your quote of me was outta context. just sayin'

Stopped caring after the whole donation thing.

Whole thing seemed to put them in a bad light for me.

I still watch it for some reason. Even though its preachy and even a little bit dogmatic.
They preach about innovation in the gaming industry and yet at the same time they discourage any creative thinking by presenting "The Hero with a Thousand Faces" is a rule rather than a guide and other such conservative thinking.

Nope. I watched a few episodes to see what it was about, but it's way too gimmicky and preachy and self-important.

For one thing, the whole cartoon-and-high-voice thing is 100% pure gimmick. It doesn't do anything to serve the message, only distract. I always found myself thinking "if this was just a written article, it'd probably be pretty great, even despite the preachiness."

For another, the videos are presented as actual lectures. I mean the dude's standing behind a podium and everything. That is just too over-the-top for me. Too "I'm the teacher, you're the student." And, as I said, way too self-important.

But honestly, I probably could have overlooked even all that if they didn't take video games WAY too seriously. I'm not one of those people who sees games as important works of art or educational tools or vehicles for social commentary or any of that. I like blowing shit up and shooting guys. That's it. And the more female objectification, the better. So to be talked down to about exploitation this and sexism that...my eyes are bad enough already, I feel like rolling them that much can't be good for me.

I still watch it. I watched them before they came to the Escapist so it really wasn't a big change for me.

It's still a great show and I hope they're happy on their new site.

Nope it was always too preachy and arrogant to me I'm happy with games being a great a way to have fun maybe I don't care if they are not some higher art form and I don't appreciate someone insinuating that that makes me a bad person.

Nope, they get like over 100k for Allison surgery and right after that they complain about not getting money and say "Well we're keeping all this money, but we're gonna bail now so fuck you". Could be interesting to watch no doubt, be I'm not doing that on principle.
I think you meant "well we're starting up an indie game fund with every bit of money left over from Allison's surgery, and btw, you're all getting awesome t-shirts for being so awesome".

Regardless of that, if the Escapist isn't going to pay them their share of the revenue they help generate for the site, then they need to either stop doing the show or move to a different publisher. It's beyond common in the publishing industry for creators to not get paid on time or even the full amount for their work, and sadly that goes for web publishing too.

First: Love the avatar.
OT: Yes, I do, on Penny Arcade, every week.
Third: I thought those episodes were good. But seriously, start watching again. The videos have gone back to their original format after that, and they're really good (as always).

Personally, I watched the show religiously every week when they were here and I did follow them to Youtube, but I got massively turned off of the show when James hijacked two whole episodes to talk about how he used to play games so much that he didn't function as a human being. The humor was gone, the intelligence was gone, the whole show had become a forum for James to lecture us about how terrible games had been for him... I have not watched a single episode since. What about you guys? Are you still watching the show or did you lose interest?
I still watch the show, I still keep one of my badges as an EC badge to show support, they are a huge reason I got started in the Escapist community (other than Zero Punctuation but that basically goes without saying). I follow them on Youtube and I COMPLETELY agree with you about James derailing the show, that was annoying as hell, you may not want to come back considering he has recently done it again to a lesser degree to talk about technology unrelated to games. It's not enjoyable when he does this and I wish he would stop but with him writing it, he has too much control, James kinda gets on my nerves. Anyway, it hasn't been enough to make me leave the show and most of the episodes are still great.
