I digress my fellow forum dweller. I've completely ignored it and I still won as a gamer. Hell for all the shit everyone(including 360's owners) gives it I think the Kinect related announcements still trounced the 3DS. Why because one of these days Kinect(or whatever comes after it) will be far more revolutionary and useful than the 3DS will evere be, in a sense that goes past its uses in gaming.
Sadly, all I saw in Kinect was yet more of that dead-end motion nonsense and near fatal levels of hype.
Besides, I don't come home every night, and unwind by standing in front of my TV waving around like an idiot.
At least the 3DS is a small step forward for Nintendo's hardware capabilities rather than something to propagate the casual-market/motion-control fad. You know, saying that now makes it seem so ironic now that it's almost poetic.
Still, I wish they weren't following the James Cameron fad of the moment either. Lets call it the "lesser of the two stupid fads" for now.
As for non-gaming related uses for motion sensors, well the gaming industry is already using it (motion capture comes to mind) plenty. I am quite tired of people throwing around the word "revolutionary" though.
Come on people. Nothing you saw today is revolutionary; rather, it's streamlined production of tech that's been around for the better part of the last decade if not longer.
I'm tired of these silly gimmicks, that's all.
