I was really hoping Microsoft would have something special this year but they were a disappointment. Nintendo completely stole the show this year, they got my vote.

Nintendo easily. While I was watching Sony's I was thinking "this is worse than nintendo's e3 2008". Fortunately in the end they came with some cool new games and that made the conference wathcable again! It was alright. However Microsoft was as bad if not worse than nintendo's e3 2008.

Nintendo's is bringing the content every hardcore Nintendo fan ever wanted. The only thing missing was F-Zero and I have a feeling it won't stay that way for long.

131 people seriously voted for Microsoft? Were we watching the same conference where they basically showed no games and preened themselves over the terrible failure that is Kinect for an hour.
This confused me too. I mean you could easily be excused for thinking they didn't even attend.

Nintendo. They announced about 20 rehashes of old games as well as the new 3DS. Microsoft and Sony's biggest news was the motion control Nintendo has had for years.
Bold is where I fixed it.

Oh you mean how they made new installments to their beloved franchises that people very much want to play? Travesty!

Its clearly a 2 horse race because MS bombed so hard its not even funny.
Personally i feel that the Move is what many hardcore gamers want in a motion control gaming system (yes i know many hard core gamers dislike motion controls). PS3 hardware + move being the better gaming system than the Wii. Of course Nintendo has a much bigger install base so i wouldn't expect any major losses in sales for Nintendo. The Natal is 100% a casual toy (using a controller and natal at the same time is basically impossible so no hardcore motion games on 360). Also PS3 having 3D gaming is going to give a huge edge over the 360 IF 3D TVs start dropping in price so more consumers can afford to buy them.
In terms of games i feel that while Nintendo had the "best" lineup, its sorta cheapened because its the same 6 or 8 IPs Nintendo has been remaking sense the SNES. (seriously no Pikmin?) PS3 had a decent game lineup unlike MS who keeps riding on the success of gears and halo. Natal shovelware looks like crap and at least PS3's motion control lineup have some FPS games (which many gamers wanted from motion controls and the Wii never delivered).
In the handheld market Nintendo won hands down because of there new 3D device.
I personally feel that Sony as the most to gain from the E3 showing because there main competition is MS and with Sony's upcoming lineup of games and a superior motion control system its putting Sony in a great position for growth in the fall. If Sony came out with a price cut to the PSP they might increase there install base enough to matter but with Nintendo unloading a new 3D portable, the PSP doesn't have a chance. With Nintendo they are kinda running there own race and nothing Sony or MS can do will stop there success at pulling big money from the casual market that the Wii opened up. MS really dropped the ball and putting themselves in a bad position for the rest of 2010.

You fail to recognise the fact that the Wii's motion control is by far the worst out of all of them and generally unresponsive, even with the 'motion plus' that they sold afterwards costing you 30 pounds for something that could have come with it in the first place, the fact is the Wii remote is bulky with the attachment of the motion plus, dangerous to those around you if you don't wear the irritating little strap and about as useful to the games you play on it as a ash tray is on a motorbike.

The fact is Microsoft are the only ones offering something different, more involving and just down right awesome if I'm honest and more-over the 'Play station wand' is a better, if a hell of a lot more uglier, version of the Wii remote. The Wii is being undercut in every way but it will still never lose it's audience of home bound mums trying to get fit and mates coming over to have a laugh.
Don't call me a fan boy because I own all 3.

OT: has anyone else realised the only good games that you can get on the Wii are the ones published BY Nintendo?, why? well I'll tell you, Game development companies with go the extra length to programme for xbox 360 and the PS3 just because it widens their profit and appeals to a greater audience, the Wii however is so easy to programme for that anyone trained to a certain lower level can programme for it, this is why you get the refuse pile that is the stack of games that the Wii has underneath it's belt, digging through the refuse you will find the occasional gem that can be played to the full extent of the Wii's capability, a perfect exsample of this is Mario Galaxy 2.

Interestingly enough, I didn't think MS bombed as hard as people say they did. They did show actual intriguing applications for Kinect like Harmonix's Dance Central. Ubi showed us Q Entertainment's Child of Eden, which is also an interesting game in its own right. And yes, while Kinect is an obvious reaction to the Wii, there's at least an effort to go somewhere else. Move is just, well... an expensive wiimote with a motionplus.

The thing that bothered me about Sony's conference (even more so than with Nintendo's) is that they basically showed a huge bunch of trailers of games that... well, to be honest, I didn't care about. Portal 2? Going to get in on PC. A multiplayer Assassin's Creed? Yeah, I'll pass. Twisted Metal? Always was a Carmageddon guy. Sequels after sequels after sequels. Sorcery was interesting though, Sony obviously needed more of that and less of Killzone 3.

Which brings us to... Nintendo. I personally thought the 3DS was the most interesting part of the show. I was kind of afraid they'd really go for something massively powerful with the 3DS but they kind of didn't. The games look nice but still look cheap enough that we'll see lots of experimental things. Nintendo also suffered from sequelitis but the Kirby's Epic Yarn was a whole new take on the series and we hadn't heard from some of these series since the NES/GB era. All in all, the 3DS means Nintendo obviously came out on top.

Capcom has consistently been releasing awesome games on the Wii. Zack & Wiki, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, Monster Hunter Tri and Spyborgs for instance. Namco's releases are often good but they aren't nearly as consistent with quality as Capcom is.

But at any rate, there are plenty of good games on the Wii not published by Nintendo. The Wii is like the PS1 of the old: plenty of good games but also there's a whole crapload of shovelware.

If the Wii controls are unresponsive for you, it's a probably with the way you set it up. I have never (really, never) experienced this in the four years I've owned mine. I have to wonder if you've even played a game with the Motion Plus attachment. Like I said, it's gotta be a problem with your setup. At the worst, you were sold a faulty controller.

I don't know who won, and frankly I don't give a fuck.

I do know who lost, that's us, the consumers. We lost like we've been losing for the last couple of years, actual content is swaying for the likes of better graphics and the latest gimmicky fad. If it weren't enough that us gamers are already getting less and less gameplay for our money they also have to dumb down their games to appeal to a broader audience.

Even though they didn't announce a new Star Fox title like I had hoped, they DID announce just about everything else.

Nintendo indefinitely won this year. After years of crappy press conferences, they finally got an awesome one. Nintendo truly wowed me. Everything just looked so amazing. I really think there's no doubt with that one. None of the others come close.

And considering a Star Fox title wasn't even announced, that's surprising even to me.
I believe a Starfox title was announced for the 3DS though I don't think we know yet whether its a sequel or a remake.

Ugh, I can't be bothered to respond to all of the anti-Nintendo fanboys, especially when all their arguments are the same. It gets tiring. Still, I'll respond to one who actually had an intelligent response (even if it was the same old argument in disguise) and another whose hackneyed, blatantly Yahtzee-stolen post particularly pissed me off.

Enjoy.

Apparently we have different definitions of the word "new". Nintendo's idea of new seems to be either churning out sequels to existing franchises or resurrecting old franchises.

Still, if that's what the fans want.
Name one developer who does not churn out sequels.

Congratulations. That is such a clever argument! Nobody's ever blamed Nintendo for rehashing old games before! How observant! So much thought must have gone into that comment!

Seriously man, Nintendo just does what every developer does. Every single developer just makes sequel after sequel. Microsoft's big titles were a new Halo and a new Gears. Sony was all about LBP2 and Killzone 3. No company (except the indie ones) are actually making new games.

No-one 'won'. IMO.
But I don't like Nintendo and enjoyed there's most.
Sony's was good just boring.
Microsoft's was pretty bad IMO.
And I'm a Microsoft supporter.

Nintendo FTW!

Zelda, Donkey Kong Country, Kid Icarus, Kirby, Golden Eye, 3DS, Metroid.

If you don't have a love for classic NIntendo franchises there probably isn't much of interest but I was very happy to see stuff for the Wii that I actually want to play.
