That's not my intended tone. My view is that people overtly display their hate and I wanted to convey my opinion on the subject in a way that was respectful.
I don't think any of us believe we're being oppressed, certainly not me. I'm not about to draw a parallel to us and Blacks in America circa 1960s, because that's not us by any means.
I'm sorry, it's just the fact that you're using words like 'us.' It's like you're a public speaker appearing on behalf of some kind of ostracised group. Can't we just say 'Some people like this show, others don't.' rather than acting like two opposing factions? Stop speaking for people, it's a little wierd.

Are there things that I enjoy? Certainly. Am I a crazy obsessive psychotic fanatical whiny retard about any of them? No, a long nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
Okay, this makes sense to me now. Still sounds boring but to each their own :3

I'm not. I'm not ironic in this at all. I've also yet to meet a brony who is ironic in their liking of the show.
I really do like this show, and to clarify myself to a certain Escapist with an avatar of Kim-Jong Il (you know who you are), whether or not I've tricked myself into liking it makes no difference.
Hello again, my friend. It appears I was not successful in my healing attempts. I am truly sorry I have failed you.

Option 4!

BECAUSE

THEY

WON'T

STOP

TALKING

ABOUT

IT

Once every two goddamn days - and sometimes even more frequently - there's some thread about ponies up on the Escapist, and in damn near every single thread I see there's someone talking about it or making a reference to it. Yes, I understand, you like the show. Maybe it's a really good show. I like House. A lot of other people like House too. Do you see threads about House all the time? No. Literally the only thing that can possibly match MLP threads in terms of pure volume on the internet are threads about Tali from Mass Effect.

Also, you're not part of some sort of persecuted minority. People just tend to find people who talk about My Little Pony all the goddamn time really irritating in the same way that people find people who continually talk about something you're totally uninterested in irritating.

I like MLP and generally enjoy the fan's shenanigans, but don't consider myself a brony. From this perspective, this thread seriously rubs me the wrong way.

If someone disses the fanbase for an unfounded reason, like "Lol, dudes watching a show for girls" then fine. Go post pony memes and explain your feelings. There hasn't been much for people to rightfully make fun or insult bronies over, so it has largely been kinda sexist or hipster "Too mainstream" logic for people to get all up in your hay.
The thing is, OP, you're just giving people a real reason to dislike the fanbase by making it an issue.

That being said, ponies are an Escapist joke going back to Susan Arent joining the staff. We have always had pony threads, so freaking out over every self-contained pony discussion is a little inconsiderate, in my opinion.
If someone is derailing your thread by means of ponies, then by all means, ask them to stop and report their behavior. But otherwise, live and let live.

I somewhat like the show, but I DETEST the fandom behind it. I'm actually writing an article on brony culture right now.
Thanks for letting me know. Because I'm actually interested in reading this. I'd like to know what exactly makes people dislike bronies.

...laugh at yourself a little. And drop this 'brony' shit, you're not part of some secret society, you're not affiliated with any kind of group, and you don't need to have any kind of solidarity or whatever between you. It's just a television show.
I laugh at myself and the fandom when it's tasteful, like Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me...'s poking fun of us. Not when it's the "In Living Glover" making fun of us and lying about us in the process.
Also, I'm in a group, it's called bronies, it's not a "secret" society by any means (secret would never work for bronies), and if we need to drop the "brony" shit, the "Whovians" need to drop their "Whovian" shit.
Sure, it's just a television show, but if I was only in it for the show, I'd be long gone now that the first season is over. I came for the show, but stayed for the community.

I'll stop being a dick about it when the pony cultists stop flaunting their love in places where it doesn't belong. Seriously, THEY'RE the reason they're patronized so much, it's not really the people who are annoyed by the bronies that are causing problems. Why is it that they can act this way on the internet but we can't act like dicks?

What's boring? I still enjoy things. I just keep my fantacism to my self and don't go into motherfucking denial when ever something is done in my beloved series/franchise that I don't like.

Bronies are essentially a sub-culture of furries.
Not that I've got a problem with that (whatever floats your boat, etc) but you can see why some people would take exception.

To be fair, 9 out of 10 of the MLP threads on the Escapist were started by people saying "What's this MLP thing?" etc, not by actual fans.
Yeah well, they BOTH need to shut the fuck up. Me, I don't watch the show. I don't care that other people watch it. All I know is that I'm really, REALLY sick of hearing about it.

Let's be honest, there are a lot of us that feel we're oppressed. Instead of just being a show that they like, it's something they have to vehemently defend and they see themselves as victims. You can tell people to try the show and if they don't like it tough, but a lot of people will lash out against any form of criticism (i.e 'I didn't like it').

There's a difference between liking the show and feeling you're a colt following, and a large majority hold themselves in the latter.

I'm just tired of seeing it, kinda like the whole Touhou phenomenon that's just beginning to die out, at least according to my observations. Now, to be fair, I've only seen an influx of "bronies" here on this site, and even then I can only go off visuals like avatars, so I can't really say anything else about it.

And no, I will not watch the show because I do not want to watch the show, so don't waste your time suggesting I find a pilot. No disrespect intended, and I have have no gripes about the show itself, I just have no interest whatsoever.

Because being a dick is being a dick. At least on the Escapist, that's very much against the rules, and one can expect to be moderated for such behavior.

What harm are bronies causing in "Flaunting their love"? Where are they causing problems? They have a large presence, I'll give you that, but the worst they are doing is going, "Hey, I like this show. I am going to have my pony avatar and would like to discuss ponies if given the chance."

This is my problem with brony haters- there really isn't a good reason for them to hate, except that they chose to dislike the show. Usually for the "men shouldn't watch little girl shows" or "Its too mainstream" reasons.

Give me a good reason to hate My Little Pony, and a good example of bronies actually being harmful.

Honestly? Deal with it.
Its the staff's place to decide when threads are encroaching on the intended environment of the Escapist, not yours.

More importantly, why does a single sentence floating around on the page freak you out so bad? No one's forcing you to read them, and if you are that bothered by the pony avatar, the staff have even kindly developed the Red Button so you can actively choose to not see them.

In the defense of bronies, most of the threads are started by idiots who don't know what a search bar is.
However, your point in the second part that I've quoted you on is valid and I completely understand what you mean.

I like MLP, but I wouldn't necessarily call myself a brony. Maybe I'm getting the wrong impression of a small minority of the fans, but it's like /b/tards, Halofags, Twilight fangirls and really any obsessive fan of any show ever. When they try and plug their show at every opportunity, when they speak of nothing but, when they defend to the death every last second of it, they just get on my tits, even if I am a fan of the show in question.

I don't hate bronies, I just find radical bronies annoying.
I completely understand you, sir.

Wait, Whovian? Whovian what now? People, stop forming factions based on television shows! Sure, feel free to discuss the show with other people who enjoy it; that's fine. There's no need to feel like you're part of any kind of group or 'community' though! It wierds people out and creates these situations where threads like this can come into existence, because people start to dislike you based on what seems to be excessive fandom!

I understand that it would be annoying to people, I really do get that. But that's not a reason to hate anyone. Yes, this is a gaming forum, and yes, about 10% (rough guestimate) of what comes up on this forum is pony related. But I go on Flankbook (a pony social networking site), and about 10% of everything people talk about on there is video game related. I guess I just don't really see why it would be such a big deal. The internet is for talking about shit you like. What's so hard or infuriating about seeing a thread title every two days and just ignoring it? That's what I do with pretty much every thread that has a subject that I don't find interesting, I just leave it alone, and it doesn't bother me.

I dont really hate 'bronies' (I despise such neologisms, pardon me) but the cartoon itself is less then mediocre. And it blows my mind how people discovered my little pony after 20 years. What will be next fad, Peanuts ? Captain Planet ?
