Well my only scar is on my index finger from touching a sparkler so I try not to talk about my scars cause it would be like "You wanna know how I got *this*! I got it from...touching a burnt out sparkler when I was 5...yeah..." If I had scars that were from interesting stories I still wouldn't tell them unless they were like a giant one on my face.

Heh. It's kind of funny because as a girl with scars, the reactions I've experienced would be more or less the polar opposite of the poll options and general consensus above.

Best story: Sliced my finger to the bone at work.
Lamest story: Got stabbed with a pencil.

All of my scars are pretty much embarassing but they are all a story I guess. The only two that are visible are one over my eye and one on the back of my hand. The eye was falling over trying to ice skate (oh yeah, I'm badass) -.-. The one on my hand was self inflicted trying to see how much pain I could take (oh yeah, I'm...an idiot).

I've seen scars discussed, but never shown off about. Then again, most scars come from clumsy accidents so people don't feel the need to show off about how much of a klutz they are.

To be honest I'm more likely to tell the tale of my collarbone getting snapped whilst playing rugby. Even now it's still raised so you can feel where it knitted back together compared to the other which is flat and smooth. Now that's a war wound.

Every scar is a story... A story that usually makes you seem (or can be exaggerated to make you seem) manly as all get-out.

I don't really like to show mine off, but it's on my lip, so I don't have to. People see the jagged white line, say "Is that a scar? How'd you get it?" And then I'm forced to tell my story whether I want to or not because people are pushy. Usually I want to tell the story though, so it's not all bad.

People think the scars come with badass stories that make them badass, which is very rarely the case. Mine come from moments of utter stupidity and are just reminders that I was once a complete idiot.

I hate scars.I have one on my arm from where a dog bit me,and two on my belly from where a cat scratched me.If I could I'd get rid of them.

I'm a woman and I love showing my scars off. It's a really good conversation starter and general "I'm bad ass now please like me" sort of thing.

I don't really know why we men do it. I have shown off scars before, but I really don't anymore. I just don't feel the need to show a woman where I have been particularly badly injured.

They give you physical proof that whatever unlikely event you're going to talk about next has actually occurred.

See this weird mark on my arm? Well, you know when glass falls on top of people in Hollywood movies and nobody gets hurt? Complete proof that it's bullshit. I was under falling glass and had cuts so deep, I don't want to know what it was I could see in those wounds. I ended up going outside, complete covered in deep cuts and bleeding to buy a first aid kit. You should've seen the look of the guy behind the counter!

When there's nothing to talk about, you've always got stories about what happened in your life. When unsure people are actually going to believe them, you go for the stories of how you got your scars.

Scars are tattoos with better stories. i saw that on a shirt once. I just love showing them off because every one is unique. My friend has one in the shape of a crescent moon on his cheek. I have one of my middle finger after getting bitten by a bluefish. I also have one on my hand from getting attacked by my uncles annoying ass cat.

I don't tend to show off my scars, but if people ask, I'll tell them. I don't make a big deal about them because I don't like the attention.
