Dragon Age 2 was a success for me and I have great faith that Mass Effect 3 will be awesome[footnote]So much that I'm avoiding all ME3 previews and threads and am just gonna preorder the uber collector's edition on faith (and I rarely preorder. This will also be the first collector's edition I get for any game).[/footnote]. I don't care about The Old Republic. Or...I do, but it's more of a resentment I have for it not being Knights of the Old Republic 3. I won't be able to play it anyway when it comes out.
I think the less you know about a game..somtimes the better all I need to know is that its ME3 nothing else, I almost dont want ti come out...I dont want ME to end :(

as for DA2 well the bitching has died down and I will continue to avoid all info about it, ill probably get it after I finish portal 2 and DA:O (mabye Ill get awakenings) (and my current ever growing backlog) by then hopefully I can look at the game with a fresh perspective and enjoy it

Am I the only one who doesn't think that the story in DA2 was terrible? I like that it bucks the standard fantasy story of YOU are the ONLY ONE who can defeat the ULTIMATE EVIL!! Which seems awfully cliched to me. Honestly the only thing that annoys me is the copy-pasted environments and the bugs, but every game is released with bugs these days. Also, I've never been a fan of silent protagonists when all of your companions have so much personality. But enough of that.

Yeah, they can do it. The Star Wars fanboys will be able to make the MMO profitable, and if they bring back my Mako and a bit more customization of equipment(ammo upgrades, not powers), I'll be happy.
seriously? they were complaing about the story? jesus some people are never happy are they? without giving anthing away what was it that people hated about it?

But good news? Since TOR has Bioware's best people working on it, its sure to be awesome. Hopefully. Please let it be awesome, there's no way I can pass up a game that has 8 KOTOR-length stories in one.
basically this for me. i seriously might have a bloody heart attack if it has the equivalent of 8 kotor stories in one game.

so i'm a bit skeptical on TOR...

but me3 will be fucking golden, how can they screw that up?!?

Basically that it wasn't as epic, which is bull because you end up participating in something massive, but much more convoluted and morally confusing then ending a blight. Right and wrong are entirely subjective in the game. Ending the blight saved thousands of lives, what happens in DA2 has the potential to change Thedas forever.

Mass Effect 3 will end up being awesome. If it's the same as the last two games then I have no complaints and it's still a damn solid series, if they make it better then...It's better, either way, it'll be a great success.

TOR however...I've a feeling will either do ok and pull in it's fair share but not set the world alight...or die a horrible painful death.

Dragon Age 2 was a really good game, and Mass Effect 3 will probably be great one. As for The Old Republic, I don't really care one way or another.

You arent the only one. Even if I dislike DA2 A LOT, I can still see the potential for fantastic game underneath it. The story was basically excellent, dealing with politics with a lot of grey areas. I can sense some Witcher-vibe in it. And characters were not that bad either, mostly. Its just as a game it screwed up quite royally. Repeated dungeons, never ending reinforcements... Bad design decisions after another. God playing that game became such a chore.

I am quite hopeful for ME3 though.

Bioware have millions of undiscerning fans. They will do well regardless of how bad the games turn out.

I'm pretty sure they know they are not legally, morally or physically allowed to mess up Mass Effect 3, and they probably hired someone to go around the office reminding them of that.

These projects are huge and highly anticipated, but, there is a heavy risk.
I needed that laugh.
OP: I am a critic of DA2, so they have started off on a bad foot with me. TOR better be successful or it could single-handedly sink one of Bioware's branches. ME3 is a toss up.

Well all i have to say is i hope ME3 isn't changed anymore than what they did with 2 (The changes on that annoyed me sometimes), if they haven't it will be a decent hit...if they go down DA2 route...well lets just say i won't be finding myself replaying the game..

Commence baseless speculation!

Mass Effect 3
Gameplay-wise, ME3 will be basically be ME2 with a few embellishments. Most people will like it, but there will be some scattered complaints from those people who want to watch numbers get bigger.

The plot will be rather similar to Dragon Age. You will visit each major species, fix their problems and recruit them to the cause. Some occasions may require you to help/recruit one species at the cost of another (Eg. Quarian/Geth, Salarian/Krogan).

It will be essentially linear with minor variations depending on major player choices. It will suffer from an acute case of deus ex machina. People will notice, but not particularly care because they are too busy enjoying the characters and dialogue.

It will sell well and receive a lot of praise.

The Old Republic
Umm... I don't really know. There will obviously be an initial surge of interest. Many people who were expecting something groundbreaking will be disappointed that it is closely modelled on your standard MMO template.

I very much doubt it will be able to convincingly deliver any degree of narrative.

It will not 'kill' WoW.

I think it will enjoy moderate success, at least in the short/mid-term. If only because it manages to combines two extremely nerdy fanbases.

...

So yeah. You heard it here first.

They need to can Old Republic before they throw any more money into it.

WOW isn't going anywhere so all they're doing is burning cash on that project.

They said that that Mass Effect 3 was going to play like Call of Duty or Bullet Storm which made me seriously consider killing myself. Or at least killing everyone who works at Bioware.

I think they're done unless they pull their heads out of their asses, stop making Old Republic and make Mass Effect play like Mass Effect.

I beta tested TOR for a little while, and if you like MMOs you will probably enjoy it. I hoped I would, even though I'm not into MMOs, but I really didn't, so I stopped testing. It looks good though, for an MMO. It just isn't my thing. I wanted it to be, particularly when there were Jedis all around me fighting with their light sabers, and the voice acting was well done... but it was still ultimately an MMO. I do hope it works out for them. APB was an unparalleled mess. I would hate to see that happen to Bioware.

As for ME3, I'm confident it will do fine. The Mass Effect developers already had to deal with the backlash of revamping their game to a more FPS style battle, and they weathered that storm well, much better than DA2 did, that's for sure. Everything I'm reading says they won't be changing things up that much this go around, and it sounds like they are planning some really interesting stuff with the storyline and how everything ties in to your past choices. I think fans that weren't completely turned of by ME2 already, are likely going to be very pleased with the final installment.

WOW might be dying (It cost more then 100 bucks to for someone new to the game to start playing) and they are running out of new stuff to introduce. TOR should be able to push it's way in there

WOW doesn't want to go anywhere, but I play wow and In my 2 guilds(One Horde one Alliance) the general consensus is that WOW can't keep up what they are doing and most of us are really excited for TOR
