I think Skyward Sword will be. Two reviews out so far (that I know of); 10/10 from edge. 98/100 from ONM.

I don't think so.

Skyrim will be good, in fact it will be great. Will it however have that timeless quality that will make people bring it up twenty years later? No i don't think it will.

I think it will lack that flare, that innovation that OoT had. OoT was for its time revolutionary and had the advantage of being in the right place at the right time. Skyrim by contrast for all it's polish and looks will be just another modern Triple A rpg with some slight differences but nothing truly ground breaking.

SO Skyrim will be a good game i think but i doubt it will capture people's imagiantions the same way OoT did.

comparing bananas to oranges. Skyrim should consider itself lucky if it manages to be the next morrowind.

That title already belongs to Deus Ex Human Revolution.
What? I mean... really?

It was a good game and all, but you legitimately think it stands above the rest?

it will be a dumbed down version of oblivion, which was pretty dumbed down to begin with
The RPG elements are dumbed down, which have been something that would be a giant plague to begin with.

They've taken out the "gamey" parts of it and replaced them with more polished well rounded -I hesitate to use the word "realistic"- and more polish.

The term "dumbed Down" needs to be stricken from the vocabulary when it comes to things like this.

You are kidding? How can DXHR be considered a classic when it bearly lived up to the standards of its decade old predecesor and other titles of the age (Vampire: Blood lines for example).

So question to all, is everyone just in agreement that no game could ever beat Ocarina of Time, it's just the undefeatable lord of the games and will forever be considered the best game there is? and on that note we all agree that Ocarina of Time is in no way an RPG right?
I'd debate the fact that it's not an RPG (what makes an RPG again?), but yeah I never understood why this game is so lorded. It seems like there's a lot of nostaligia going on here. I could claim that the SSI D&D games are the best ever because they were a favorite of mine back when I was a child, but to claim them the greatest ever and use them as a marking post for future releases would be retarded.

The thing is that there is no role playing in Zelda, in that the entire experience is extremely structured offering very little freedom or customizability

... Ocarina of Time? How is that even a comparison? I mean... not that it isn't good, but this is like asking "will Deus Ex 3 be the next Tic-Tac-Toe?" or "will Call of Duty be the next Pac Man!?" It just makes no sense.

Na, skyrim will be generic trash like the last two on release. It'll take months of community-made mods to improve the patchy sections to make the game even bearable (Oblivion's combat, for example, was godawful until several mods came out to improve block functionality and make it more active in general).

For players that love bug-ridden mediocre WRPGs, it'll be a godsend. For players who like games... ehhhh. It might be worth the buy in six months, once the most major bugs are fixed and mods exist to patch over the shit Bethesda does wrong/forgets to do at all. Doubt it'll be good before then.

And honestly, if your game requires a folder with 20-30 mods to be playable, it isn't a contender for any real awards. BG2 was a solid game out of the box, and the community mods were icing on the cake - Oblivion was a limp dog out of the box that needed the mods to not suck. There's a big difference between the two.

won't be as good as that. I love this game.
Good is a relative term. LoL is a MOBA and I honestly don't care about those games at all because they're too competition-based and hit way too close to MMO online-dependent infinite-replayability for my comfort. Even if it was perfect (and no, it's not at all) it would be flawed at its core for offering an experience ONLY for multiplayer online, usually with random people, and that experience can be vastly different between people. Or even just between two matches on the same server, it can go from really fun to frustrating dung load. It's very dependent on players.

To compare Skyrim, a game that's SO single-player it's ONLY single-player to a game that not only has NO single-player component, but also no exploration and quests and level progression over the course of the game like you get in Skyrim. Both basically have NONE of the features of the other, so you're not just comparing apples to oranges, you're comparing a pickup truck to a pair of rocket-powered roller blades.

mario went 3D like 10 years ago and so did zelda, but besides that its about the same. If you add little things to games instead of revamping the entire system the games will be solid at heart and thus be good to very good unless the studio fucks something up (e.g FF13)

I recall back in 1999 thinking that there will never be another Ocarina of Time. I don't think Skyrim is sbout to change that, but I can see myself not sleeping much this weekend.

Captcha - comparison cructuni. There you go, any comparison to mighty OoT is a load of cructuni.

Yes. It'll be a massively popular game and win a bunch of undeserved game of the year awards and not be as good as everyone says it is.

I'd suggest that Skyrim will be a better game, but Zelda and many games from its era just had more charm and character to them, and it's hard to disregard that.
