I hate Star Trek but i'll see this because J.J. Abrams is doing it. Original Star Trek is effing lame, but this looks like something that wont make walk out of the cinema.

Keen for it.

JJ Abrams using Chris Pine as Kirk doesn't supernaturally replace all of Shatner's scenes with the new actor, nor will your discs suddenly show the Enterprise as a well-rendered 3D model instead of that ivory/tan hunk of plastic. You get to keep your original series, so let us have our new material. Our new Star Trek does not deprive you of your old one.
Well, to be fair, if it was being made by George Lucas, it would be.

First time I saw the preview I was rather disappointed with the angry Vulcan bit because I was kinda raised as a treckie by my mom, but I will definately see the movie. I just hope its somewhere around the same level ofgood that Nemesis was Shinzon ftw.

When I watched the trailer I heard Tiberius. maybe the one you watched was a bit spotty. And is it just me or does Zachary Quinto look a bit sylarish when they are arguing?

I see no reason to boycott a movie that's trying to breathe life into a dead franchise.

I'm definitely going to see it. I was never a huge fan of the original series (always preferred The Next Generation), so I'm able to keep a pretty open mind about it.

Who knows? Without all the camp and antics of the original series, maybe this will be a portrayal of Kirk I can actually take seriously.

Wow, I was thinking I was going to be against the topic creator here, but most of the posters are bothering me. People saying they are not a Star Trek fan obviously would not be bothered by the change of actor, thus their opinion on this would be little more than moot. Now I saw one person mention the whole "Daniel Craig is not James Bond" thing, and I do believe it is true, since he does what he can to NOT do what Bond is known for. Now, if this new guy tries to live up to Shatner's most known role and does not try to tarnish it, then I will be fine but if he tries to make Kirk not Kirk, then I have a problem. Also, Kirk era Star Trek I love because it just seems more fun and out there. Picard is a better captain of a serious Star Trek, but Kirk was more lovable in the origional's obsurdness.

I may hate star trek with a passion, but I have to say it looks pretty good. Plus it has Simon Pegg. One word: Pimpin'.

I'l watch it over the interwebs. I love sci fi but i grew tired of trek long ago, I'd rather see another stargate movie or even a Babylon 5 movie than ANOTHER Trek movie. I certainly hope it does do well and pleases new comers and old time fans but I have had my fill. Also when i found out J.J. Abrams was part of it, I was majorly turned off. Yea I despise his work, come crucify me. Oh and anyone who is mad enough to think Shatner should be playing a young kirk needs to get their head out of their fanboy ass.

Yes. Just because you all hated the idea of a 'remake' of "The day the earth stood still" because of explosions.
