...as Spock! isn't that both inviting and uninviting? I'm so confused!

I don't mind a remake of star trek as long as it is done well. Remakes of the day the world stood still and war of the worlds were bad because they missed the deeper points of the original films/books. Star Trek is just light fun so shouldn't have that problem.

Beware though. J.J.Abrahms is a cursed name. Sure, alias was good but Lost was confusing and Cloverfield an embarrassment. Who knows what this will be like...

The original Star Trek is entertaining and unintentionally hilarious, but not exactly Shakespeare or even Highlander.

Besides, in case everyone's forgetting, Shatner isn't a very good actor.

As long as at some point they acknowledge Shatner/the fans with someone yelling "KHAN!!!".

I wasn't really planning on going to see it, anyway. If it's showing for free (I work in a cinema) I might give it a look. But yeah, "boycotting" a movie is stupid. Just don't go see it.

This just reaffirms my opinion that Trekkies are the worst fanbase ever.

I didn't even know of it's existence before I looked at this thread, but it looks ok, so I'll probably watch it sometime.

The thing about calling a boycott is that you're suppose to encourage people to not do something, but by looking at the replies on this thread I think you've achieved the opposite. Well done.

I probably won't see it at the cinema, so if that counts as a boycott then I'm in.
I'll honour William Shatner's memory by watching a pirate copy from the internet or something, that'll teach 'em not to have a 77 year old guy play a 20 year old incarnation of himself. What were they thinking?

Oh, there's no point in pointing out that William Shatner isn't a very good actor, that's why we love we love him.
