Well there nothing that interesting out on the next gen consoles right now. Just a load of rushed launch titles, and could be betters.

Come Christmas I will be the proud owner of a PS4 and a copy of killzone shadow fall. I've only bought Shadow fall for something to actually play on my PS4, and because I cant buy it for £40 on the PS3.

So in my opinion you'd have to be pretty stupid to buy anything for next gen that you can get for less on current gen. The PS3 and 360 aren't gone by a long shot, with games like Persona 5 and Destiny still being released for them. Its a great time to own these systems. I can understand next gen purchases if you are the kind of person who values graphics over actual game quality. Or if you just flat out dont own a ps3 or 360.

Now just seems like a good time to own a ps3 or a 360. There's still good stuff coming out like Persona 5 for instance. I just don't get why people would pay an extra £15 for Assassins creed 4 just so they can look at the plants wobble in the rain.

I will continue to buy PS3 games, I don't even really use my 360 so nothing really warrants me buying games for it, especially since most of the games I like are either multiplatform or exclusives on the PS3.
I generally buy older games more nowadays than newer ones. In 2012 I only purchases 1 game that had actually come out that year, and that was Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance. I mainly buy PS2 and GameCube games nowadays, and I'll continue to get PS3 games over time.

If I owned a next-gen system, I would be buying the games for my next-gen system if they were available on both old-gen and next-gen. I just spent $400/$500 on this piece of hardware and I want to use it damn it!!! >_<

I don't own either system (and I don't plan to for another few years) but if I had the option I would. I'd keep the 360/PS3 for exclusives but that's basically all they would be used for.

Persona 5 is being released for the PS3, along with the FF10/10-2 HD Collection.

So, yes, I am.

If a game is available for the PS4, I will get it for the PS4, even if it's also available on the 360 (I don't own a PS3) unless there's some major reason why I would want the last gen version instead. Of course, that doesn't mean I won't buy anything for the 360 any more, it just means that it won't be my first choice for game purchases if a PS4 version is also an option.

Nah, there's not much of a reason to get a next gen console past the "OMG SO HYPE" part. Mediocre games all around and all games are released on 360/Ps3/PC anyway so why waste money. I will get a PS4... somewhere down the line but no promises.

Hell i'm going to have to buy a freaking PS3 because companies are still developing games for it. I need that Chrono Phantasma yo'

There are still games I want to get for my 360 (like I just got AC4 and don't plan to get it on xb1 cuz that's redundant) and since I'm buying a ps3 precisely because I'm too broke for a ps4 I'll have opened up new games from that side of the fence as well. Whenever I get a ps4 if they still make games for the past consoles I'll mix and match by then if they're games I'm interested in.

Nope. The current gen consoles have a better line of of upcoming games. Next year I've got Dark Souls 2, Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2, Tales of Xillia 2, Drakengard 3 and Persona 5 to look forward too just to name a few.

Buying a next gen console is pretty pointless at the moment.

I already stopped. My 360 was turned off when I moved back in August of last year, and I never felt the need to unpack it. When I moved again in July of this year, I didn't even take it with me. There are a handful of games I would like to play, but none enough to buy a new television and unpack the XBox. If they can't be bothered to put the game on PC, I guess they just don't want my money.

No real reason to buy a PS4 yet, so I'll be sticking with my PS3 for some time to come. When I do eventually get a PS4 (probably in a year or so), I think I might still buy some older PS3 games I missed when they came out, like I did with the PS2, but for the rest I'll completely switch to PS4. But I do think I won't be buying as many games on release as I did with the PS3 though. I've become a bit more cautious.

I don't even own a next gen console yet. There are precious few games on the new consoles that:
1. I want
2. I can't get on PC or PS3

Infamous: Second Son is the only game I want that is PS4 exclusive. The Xbox One doesn't have any exclusives I'm interested in. Therefore, I'll be sticking with PC, PS3 and Vita games for the time being.

Hell, the next gaming hardware I'll buy will probably be a 3DS XL. I want some of those delicious looking JRPGs the system is rocking.

Games like Persona 5, Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Remix and FF 10/10-2 aren't even coming to next gen or PC. So my PS3 will be getting plenty of use yet.

I've got no reason to get next-gen consoles either. But more because I need to save up for a better PC. Mines feels really outdated to me and I want something that can last me some years for my gaming needs.

Shouldn't you include a poll option for "I don't own a PS4/Xbox One?

I care about graphics, that's why I have a PC, I also care about the good exclusives which is why I own a PS3 and a Wii U.

The upcoming games for PS3 are kinda droolworthy while I have precious few that I really want on the new consoles.

It wasn't until two years or more after release that I even bothered with a 360, since consoles aren't my primary gaming platform. I haven't decided if I'll bother with a nextgen, don't fancy paying launch prices particularly when they'll inevitably get cheaper (and have more refined hardware (and software/firmware)), don't care for any of the games currently on offer and am not in a hurry.

The best thing about these consoles for me personally, is that games development can finally take *a* step forward. We've been held back by aged and infirm 360/PS3 hardware that's laughable by today's hardware standards since they were kept alive for a whole extra generation. The 360/PS3 spec, developed 8+ years ago is the reason why even today I still only get Unreal Engine 3 games with tiny maps, shitty physics, shitty AI, a gazillion loading screens and nothing to take advantage of my vastly superior hardware setup. I'm hoping that the higher spec hardware in new consoles will mean moving back toward the kind of games we used to have before cross platform development became the norm...large maps, smart AI, cool physics/destructible environments, less loading screens, better graphics and so on.

I'll probably pick one up some day, likely whichever is more homebrew/modding friendly. With that kind of hardware either console would be great for entertainment, emulators and the like, without the restrictions MS/Sony put on them.

Dark Souls 2 will probably be the last PS3 game I'll buy before switching over to PS4. I plan on buying the PS4 Watch Dogs bundle in march or so, when the really good next-gen games start coming out(or atleast the ones I'm personally looking forward to like Evil Within, MGS5, The Division etc.) The PS3 probably has some of my favorite games of any console generation so I do plan to keep it around for quite a while since I still have quite a few games in my backlog and a lot of others I still play or want to replay at some time. PS3 had a slow start but it picked up and had a fantastic run despite weird architecture and memory issues.

There are still plenty of games for my PS3 I want to buy, and with new consoles being released, they're only gonna get cheaper. Besides, even if I wanted to, I couldn't buy PS4 since it's not released here until the end of January.

It's usually around the new generation time period that I stock up on previous gen games. I'll hopefully be getting a PS4 this friday, but that won't stop me from binging on all the PS3 games still coming out or that I've missed.

WiiU owner.
Don't have 3/360
I still get to play my old Wii games on my new console.

I don't see why they have taken away the backwards compability
Does it destroy the console somehow?
Does it take away from the power of new gen games?
I doubt it's that difficult to overcome a problem like this, unless it has with money to do of course i.e. people buying games cheaper for a new console (old console games) if that option is available

Seeing as how I don't yet have a next gen console and don't intend to get one for a while yet (probably next summer, maybe even later) since I can't afford one and I prefer to wait till most of the kinks and glitches can get ironed out, I'll be sticking with my 360 for the time being.
