I dont really think that's entirely on Sony to make that happen. Plus, the PSN outage and all the other info leak stuff affects more people than would care about Final Fantasy VII. Sure, it would appease many of the people that are fans, but most people I know with PS3s still couldnt give a fuck about Final Fantasy.

Even if Sony could do something like that, it wouldn't be enough for their entire player base of the console.

No i would not. It would be nice, but it doenst change my standing on the situation.

Even though this doesn't directly affect me, i dont see why getting a remastered FF7 would do anything for this situation. I feel its better if they admit their faults, ask for forgiveness, and wholeheartedly attempt better protection and services towards their customers in the coming years.

On the one hand I don't think sony is to blame for being the victim of a massive hack that took down a free service.. However they didn't have the necessary security in place to avoid having personal details stolen which is entirely their fault.

FFVII remake would be amazing.. Having gone back and played it last year it would be awesome to have updated graphics etc for the inevitable next time I choose to spend 3 hours trying to find a decent emulator online instead of doing dissertation..

But meh! Just what I think!

That's a needed option in the poll.
That's stupid. Enix only makes Dragon Quest games. Just face the fact that Square isn't what it used to be and leave enix outr of it.
It cannot be a coincidence that the last good FF was 10 and that was made by squaresoft and then they joined with enix and and now we have nothing but crap with the FF name slapped on the front.
X was, for me, the point where Final Fantasy stopped feeling like an adventure and more like a CGI movie where I wheeled the protagonist into the next talky scene. The last good one was IX. And even if you liked X, X-2 and the Spirits Within movie were released by Squaresoft before the merge with Enix. Square have simply followed industry trends and those trends have tainted their formerly pretty-damn-awesome main franchise. It happened to Sonic, it happened to Zelda (I don't know what Skyward Sword is going to be like but I didn't really like Twilight Princess, Phantom Hourglass was kinda meh and Spirit Tracks can go die in a fire.), and it happened to Final Fantasy. Get over it.

You're talking about bitching to sony to make a game that SquareEnix owns? Isnt that kinda backwards? Unless you're talking about bitching to sony to single-handedly produce and fund it, but even that wouldnt work considering SquareEnix wants to do a remake, but they dont want to do it right now, they wanna wait a long time before starting a remake.

Um not to rain on your parade, But Square Enix isn't a Sony Exclusive anymore. They've been making games for nintendo for a while and FF13 was released also on X-Box 360. But back to the original topic, No it wouldn't becuase Sony isn't as screwed as they think they are. If they don't get the service back online soon nothing they will do will ever make up for it. NOTHING!!!!

**I know Sony is not responsible for making FF7, they just publish it. But now that the PS3 has the graphics of a supercomputer, and enough people want Final Fantasy 7 remade, they could pay Square Enix to remake FF7 and recieve forgiveness. Now stop going," U do kno dat Enix make FF7, yaaaaaaaaaaah?????" it's getting annoying, ya bunch of OCD...peoples...
Still wrong, Square Enix develops and publishes the FF series. They haven't remade FF7 for two reasons.
1: It would cost a shit tonne. That game is huge and making that up to snuff with a PS3 would be ridiculous. And I doubt, given the fact that Square Enix has shown massive losses, that they would touch a project as big as an FF7 remake which would take years.
2: Maybe they don't want to? Maybe they want to leave it as is. One of the best games ever (IMO). A Reboot could tarnish the legacy.

I've said a couple of times that an FF7 remake would make me actually get a PS3 if I had to.

And also new Final Fantasy games, hence them being 'Square Enix'.

I would only accept a remake of FF7 if Aerith gets written out of the story XD I really hated that girl and because of her cloud was not any fun to follow through the story...
also around Disc 2 the game was boring as hell for me only the promise of great story kept me going...

so no not for FF7
FF6, FF8 or FF9 though that would be a deal^^

Considering it's Square Enix who makes Final Fantasy rather than Sony, no...

Though, then again, I don't want a remake of Final Fantasy VII at all. Lets face it guys. If they do remake it. The majority aren't going to be happy about it. People will moan because they didn't get Cloud's voice right, or they don't like the changes made when upgrading the graphics, or they don't like the upgraded remixes of the songs etc. Consequently, better to just leave it as it is, untarnished. There's also the minor fact I don't think FF7 is that amazing, too, but let's not go there.

Since Square revamping FFVII for the PS3 would have little to do with Sony (as so many have pointed out), this would not change my opinion regarding their service outage.

At this stage in the game, I think it would be more likely Square would wait for the next generation of consoles to be announced, and then revamp it as a flagship title for the new consoles so that Square can try to be pretend the Final Fantasy franchise has not been a failure recently.

As for what Sony could do to ameliorate the bad attitude this outage may have provoked in their console customers, large credits for movie rentals would be nice. Their PlayStation Plus deal seems kinda weak, to be honest.

For their MMO customers, probably just a month or two of free game time would be best.

Yes it would. in fact it is the ONLY thing that would ever make me buy a ps3. FF7 was the first game I ever truly loved I would play it for hours and hours. It is what truly changed gaming from a mild distraction to a full blown hobby for me. God I love that game.

I don't really understand why remaking Final Fantasy 7 would be considered a good thing?

Is it because it was the last objectively good game in the series and fans want to hold on to a time when Final Fantasy wasn't crap?

I still don't get why people are blaming Sony. They were -attacked- and since then they have been doing everything in their power to fix it. Saying, "Oh they never should have been attacked in the first place" is some serious weak sauce. That's like saying computer viruses never should have been invented, or the 360 shouldn't have had that red ring problem for as long as it did. If everyone had their way, those problems never would have existed. The company(ies) in charge do everything in their power to make sure their products work well, and if they don't they attempt to fix it, in most cases.

This FTW!
FFX is the last "true" final fantasy. I'll love to see FFX on the PS3, if for nothing else, then for the fact I'm a big Yuna fan.

BTW: FF12 wasn't that bad IMO.....
