You know, the kind that thinks everyone should be treated exactly the same way. Maybe we should ask children to work too heh.Elect G-Max said:Communists?deadish said:I don't really mean either one, hence the quotes. Despite what idealistic "libertarians" think, men and women are different.
Ya, I know, as I said, I wasn't using the right word. It's was just what came to mind.Lieju said:Libertanians are those guys who are the advocates of the small government.deadish said:I don't really mean either one, hence the quotes. Yes, I'm generalising a bit. But various subgroups of women do share common "attributes", which are not possessed by men, so some generalisation - while inaccurate - is still "useful" for discussion purposes.
Just thought it would be interesting to know what it would be like to be a "typical" woman. What emotions would I feel in reaction to various things? What "motives" would I feel?
The thing is, even if you changed sex, all you'd get is knowledge of how it would affect you personally. Do you really understand the motives of all the other men? Is your identity mainly formed by your sex?
You could get some knowledge of how your hormonal activity for example affects you (and even that's not the same for everyone. For example the mental effects of periods change from woman to woman), but that would ignore the cultural aspects, for example.
EDIT: Also, not everyone is 'equal', obviously, and if you look at women and men as big groups (as opposed to on individual level), you could certainly spot some trends there. Especially if we look into societies where men and women are treated very differently, as the cultural environment would have an effect. (For example, in a society where women are denied education, women would as a result be dummer and less informed. Not because of any biological thing, but because they never had the same treatment men did)
But even if men and women really were different, it wouldn't mean they shouldn't be considered equal.
If it's SOME thing, SOME women feel, how is it 'typical'?deadish said:Having a temporary chance to be in a woman's body is just to satisfy my curiosity. That all there is to it. LOL. While I know everyone is different, just like every cheeseburger you eat is slightly different, it doesn't mean I can't get a "typical experience" and see SOME things that SOME women might see and feel.
People, men or women, are individuals. Wouldn't treating people as individuals be the best solution? For example, on average men are physically stronger than women. But, not all men are equally physically strong, and some women will be stronger than some men.deadish said:Men and women are different. When it come to the topic of equality, they should be treat as equals in areas in which they are equal, and otherwise not. I think this is a pretty simple and IMHO obviously correct course of action to take, I don't really understand what all the great debate on equality is about.
Why should women be 'one of the guys'? That very choice of words suggests women can't be accepted as women, they need to be men.deadish said:To digress a bit, when it comes to communication, which seem to be the big topic in gaming discussions these days, it's very difficult for them to be "one of the guys". IMHO it's part cultural, part biological. Men do not on an instinctive level react the same way to women as they do to other men - this propagates "upwards" into culture IMO.
Haha, I've actually thought about that before, along with the fact that society will inevitably become more LGBT friendly over time the way things are going. I'm not sure how long I want to wait though. :/Pandabearparade said:Completely amateur-hour advice here, but I'd suggest waiting a bit. I'm sure the technology to do better surgeries of that sort will come in time, and get cheaper. Maybe in 2025 you'll be able to buy yourself a Megan Fox body, eh? Eh?Glass Joe the Champ said:one day I'll be able to make the change provided the technology is there and society learns to be accepting.
That'd be awesome.
I can agree with everything that you just said. Sorry if i came off as hostile.manic_depressive13 said:I don't doubt plenty of guys are attracted to chubbier women. Afterall, a layer of fat actually serves a purpose for procreation, just like many of the other physical attributes guys are attracted to.
Both. A bunch of female acquaintances, an ex boyfriend and a few male friends have told me I would look prettier with make up.Although i do have to ask a few questions:
1. Who comments about your lack of makeup in terms of sexes
Men are as likely to get targetted for a beating merely because they lack muscle as women are to get randomly raped merely for being women. Lack of muscle may make it difficult to defend yourself from arbitrary abuse, but it is absurd to suggest it is the reason for the abuse. They might get picked on for being socially awkward, nerdy, or because they have something worth stealing.2. How often do women get physically abused for not wearing makeup? Sure i imagine guys without muscles dont get snide comments like a women being picked on for makeup would, but are more likely to get the @#$% beaten out of them for random reasons because they are easy marks.
Comparing make-up to having muscle is fucking stupid anyway. Why are we comparing at all? I didn't fucking say women's gender roles in the western world are empirically worse. I just said that gender roles exist. Since I behave in what is largely considered by society as a masculine manner, I would prefer to be a man. If you were a man who had "feminine" traits, obviously being a man would seem shitty to you.
What the fuck are you talking about. I never blamed men for anything. Both women and men play a role in perpetuating sexist gender roles. When the fuck did I say "Women are expected to wear make up AND IT'S MEN'S FAULT". I didn't. I said women are expected to wear make up, and I think that's shit.I wouldnt blame women for men without muscles being picked on, as I have mostly seen it coming from the MEN's direction. I would assume the opposite is also true.
Fuck my life.
Oh, she's attractive. She's just attractive in a really particular way. A sleazy, greasy, oily kind of way. She's trashy-hot.Glass Joe the Champ said:On a side note, I don't think Megan Fox is really that attractive...
Yeah, fair enough. I'm kind of on the same boat as Moviebob in that she's more attractive than the average person, but for her to build a multi-million dollar career off of getting men to go see crappy movies because she's in them is just ridiculous. Especially when you look at the array of other Hollywood actresses.BloatedGuppy said:Oh, she's attractive. She's just attractive in a really particular way. A sleazy, greasy, oily kind of way. More ridiculous than people getting famous for being reality television sensations?Glass Joe the Champ said:Yeah, fair enough.
