Nope.

A country is just a plot of land and if all the invaders wanted to do is a like-for-like regime change, maybe change the name of the nation then they can feel free.

That said, if they were invading with the intention of changing the way I live my life or the freedoms I enjoy then I would fight. Not for the country but for the people around me that I care about.

I'd gladly die for my country. I love the USA. =-D

I really mean no offence by this, but: Why?
What part of America (nationally or globally) is so good?

I don't want to troll with this, I'm genuinly interested

Not even that.

The only thing I can think off that are worth dying for are my principles
Tell me your principles.

Well, if any country is being invaded, that generally means the invaders are the kind who, well, resort to invading. The kind who resort to invading tend to not be the kind of people I want "in charge", no matter how horrible the current people "in charge" are.

Unless, of course, that's the whole point of the invasion, being that the current people in charge suck, at which point I would already be part of the internal resistance, or have bailed.

So, if the invasion is to improve my country, I'm already a part of the invasion force, essentially. Like when the allies re-invaded France. Invasion/Liberation/Crusade, it all depends on which side you're on and which context you apply to it.

If the invaders, rather, are the standard "invasion" types; if I run, and every one else, they'll eventually catch up to wherever I end up, so I might as well fight and die where I stand.

That, and I'd rather protect my family and friends, and the places where I have memories with them.

Also, I rather don't mind my country so much. Sure, there are a lot of jerks in politics, corporations, and the general population; but it isn't too bad of a place in the day-to-day.

Besides, if I just protected my home, family and friends, that's a lot of work for one person, or even a small group of people. A whole lot of people working together to protect a whole lot of land in a concentrated effort, however, tend to do better. That's kind-of the whole point we started "grouping up" in tribes, villages, cities, principalities, and dun-dat-ta-da! countries.

In the words of the great Edward Thomas, "I could spare an arm, I shouldn't want to lose a leg. If I should lose my head, why, so, I should want nothing more...". Yes. Everytime, yes.

My country has never done anything for me, and most things they have done have been for the worst. So I would not die for them. I would die defending family and friends, however.

Well Great Britain is lovely and all... but no. I really can't be arsed to die for her.

Tell me your principles.
I have many...on many different subjects. It's just how I see things and how I want to live my life. If someone would want me to change them, I probably couldn't...

this goes for the more serious subjects, like love, freedom of speech, honesty and all the other clichés ;)
But I stand by them....Always

Depends on how awesome it looks. If I die in some rat infested jail in a third world country because I decided to join the military, then no.

If MY country is invaded, yes. Definitely.

The other way around? No. I'd rather pursue a music career.

I have a feeling that a lot of people are going to get banned after they make their posts on this forum.

I am also disappointed that the "No" answers outweigh the "Yes" ones, but oh well.

And, yes, I would die for my country (United States). A country is: the land and its citizens. This is possibly the most liberal definition of a country, and even if a country only amounted to those, I would gladly die for it.

I mean, you'd be pretty damn messed up if you weren't willing to die for at least one fellow citizen you cared about (unless you're an unaffectionate emo who sits weeping in a closet). Seriously. Don't you guys (or girls) have girl/boyfriends? Or spouses? Or brothers? Sisters? Parents? Sons? Daughters? Friends? If any these are your fellow citizens, wouldn't you die for them? And if you wouldn't, well...

If you don't like your country, then you should leave it and quit your bitchin'. That's just my opinion at least. Though would I die for my country? I dunno, possibly. Would I push a stranger out of the way of a speeding car at the cost of my own life? Yes.
