Depends on the cause and the outcome.
Will it save millions? Sure.
Will my name go down in history as one of the greatest martyrs ever? Sure.
People would build a massive statue in my honor in the center of a city, so all can remember my sacrifice? Sure.

Die for my country because of propaganda, and because some guy in a suit who cant fight himself told me to? *cranes neck* Nope.

Depends.

Would I like to fight and die in the trenches as one of many, the outcome of the war unswayed by my sacrifice?

No.

Would I die for a special reason that becomes invaluable to the success of our defensive campaign? Yes.

Call me selfish but I want my death to mean something - everybody dies, but I intend to deserve it.

No, because borders are bullshit.

The country has not done anything for me. The country is a mass of land. What people really mean when they ask this question is, will you fight for the men in suits making sure the country runs all nice. The answer to this is also, no. Because politicians fuck me off and I've not observed one in England that will actually take a question head on.

I find it incredibly backward that people say they are "Proud to be ______". Why be proud of something that took no fucking skill? The only reason you belong to that country was because that's where you were born, and if you were born anywhere else you'd say you were proud to be that too. At best, it's patriotic flag-wanking and is completely unnecessary. If we want to move forward and better ourselves (which you can almost guarantee we fucking don't because then the big-wigs wouldn't make any money, we need to stop worshiping some colours on a flag and actually start moving on.

Pretty much the truth of it right there.

The only instance I'd ever actually fight would be if my country was being invaded, and that wouldn't be to "protect the country", it'd be to protect the people I care about. It's pretty laughable when people say they're "fighting for our country" when they're in Afghanistan. Then again the only people I hear say that are the thickies back home that sniff their Union Jack bedsheets in the morning.

Watch and learn...
Good boy. We can all learn a lot from the wisdom of George Carlin.

If someone is invading and killing Canadian Civilians you damn betcha I'd fight. But, not for Canada. For the Canadian people. I'd fight until I die or they pull out. It's that simple.

Would I invade? Depends on the threat of invasion.

No I would not.
I don't love my country enough to die for it.
Besides, what good will it do my country if I die defending it...

Infact, why would I need to defend it? It's not like anyone is going to attack Ireland, apart from the Irish of course.

"no one ever won a war by dying for his country"

If I ever felt the need to defend the people of America I would join the air-force, safe in the sky and with superior firepower.
Or maybe the navy, aiming artillery with 3 feet of steel and 10 miles of air between me and the nearest source of harm.

EA is constantly becoming more evil... :/

But c'mon people, unless you have kiddy porn (you sick bastard) than I don't think you have anything to worry about frankly.

I will fight for my country, but I will not lie for her.
- Zora Neale Hurston

That pretty much sums up my feelings towards the subject. I don't know if I'd willingly *die* with no chance of survival and for no reason, but I'd certainly fight.

I would die for my country only if there's a reload from last checkpoint button... so I guess, I wouldn't. I'd ran in the other direction most likely & be shot for being a traitor or something... would that be described as dying for your country also?

Sure I'd fight and risk dying for my country (or actually more for the people in the country). But then again I'm applying for military service sooo...

Also I'd much rather make some other poor sod die for his country. ;)

You know, I think that it's way better to live for your family and country rather then to die for them. But hell, that's just me...
