It depends on what the protestors were doing. If by 'shoot them' you meant to do so JUST because they were protesting, then no, I wouldn't (want to) do it. If shooting at them was in response to their own dangerous, or life threatening actions, then it would be a warranted response. If they were just creating inconveniences, then I wouldn't (want to) shoot at them. People cause inconveniences every day. We don't want to set a precendent of being able to tear-gas and bruise with rubber bullets the poeple that inconvenience or obstruct you! 
I guess it comes down to whether or not the protesters are law abiding, and whether or not the police themselves are too.

If people never protested think were the world would be today. 99% of the population would have no welfare, money or rights.
Another point - so many of you have said "well, if I was a police officer then it would be my job, so yeah" since when is it acceptable that police (that are meant to be protecting us) go about shooting people that are peacefully demonstrating injustices?
Basically if you said yes, you are no better than a nazi, because you cleary do not question any orders you are given, you blindly carry them out based on the governments determination of right and wrong. Think for yourself people.

If they got dangerously out of hand I would shoot them with rubber bullets. Never with real bullets. Tear gas I would use if they even back chatted. hippies...
Depends on what the protest is over and if it turned violent or not. Free Speech is free speech, warts and all.
Attacking the crowd excessively and without provacation does more to undermine order in the long run though.
And anyone here who chanted a 'Hell Yeah, let me at those hippies' attitude are the last people on earth who should be allowed to become police officers.

You need an other option.
I might, but it would depend. If the protest was non-violent, no. (You called them a mob, but that's still pretty ambiguous)
If people were getting hurt, or badly inconvenienced (they were stopping individual cars and harrassing them or something) then yes.

I turn around and shoot my commanding officer then drop the tear gas amongst the soldiers or police around me.heyheysg said:
