Well no, but that is quite different to you inflicting harm on someone else. Do you see that big of a difference between yourself and everyone else on the planet? That you can't see the difference between someone hurting themselves (after all it is really up to them, as their the only ones its directly affecting) and you hurting them. Is the world made up of you, the people you know and everyone else? Or are we all actually surprisingly similiar?

And there we have it... the changing standards of a person who just lost the argument.

First of all, the question wasn't "would you join this type of organization".
It was "would you shoot the protesters". Which means if you're going to answer this question, you're prepared to put yourself in the shoes of someone who WOULD be in that situation in the first place.
You're there. You've worked years to join this Police force. You get the order to fire NON-LETHAL rounds. You WILL obey the order.
People saying "no, I wouldn't" are lying through their teeth. You WILL fire. None of you is brave enough to disobey a direct order from a superior. You'll be grumbling all the while, but you'll fucking do it. You'll go home and complain about it, but when you're there at the scene, you'll be firing your rubber bullets at anyone in sight.

Now, since you're too stupid to get that, I understand that you're too stupid to consider that anyone who would take my stance could be anything but a "right wing crazy".

Too stupid for what? I simply stated that I wouldn't join the police/army and hypothetically if I did I would not follow through their every command without thinking about it.

The OP failed to specify a peaceful protest. The terminology used was too broad to draw definite conclusions from. I assumed at the point traffic was being blocked, control was needed.

Not my fault your groin got in the way of the rubber baton while I was deploying it at the legs and feet of the demonstrators in order to quickly usher them to a different location. It's assumed that by participating in the demonstration, you were aware of the potential risks involved and also made aware that officers were prepared to use the necessary crowd control devices available to them in order to remove actively or passively resistant offenders from the area.
Of course, emergency medical personnel will be called to provide injured persons with medical treatment.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is a perfect example of the kind of thinking that makes the police a force of tyranny, not the protectors of civilisation.

Why would you shoot me in the groin 'out of spite'? Because I was trying to make my reasoned opinions heard and all you could do was violently lash out? It's a pathetic display of cowardice to use these sort of excuses to legitimise violence against others. The OP didn't say ANYTHING to indicate a violent protest. It's common for protests to take up streets - if the cause is worthy, there's going to be too many people to keep to sidewalks. That's why protest routes are established in advance, so the police can facilitate peaceful protest.

Douchebags like you and the other couple of hundred that have voted to fire on a (probably) legitimate protest, be it against war, political corruption, workers rights or whatever are the ones who would deserve a rubber bullet salvo. See how you would like it to be on the receiving end of summary, uncalled for, potentially illegal violence. We could call you 'commie fascists' to dehumanise you (a nonsensical term invented by the US because they were so fearful of other ideologies that they didn't understand, its use here would be pleasantly ironic), and because we'd labelled you by your logic you loose all rights and all your police buddies would laugh and play games as they mercilessly pounded you with 'less-lethal' rounds.

Of course, I would be unable to condone, support or encourage such an action - after all, you are entitled to your ideas and opinions. Even if you think that I shouldn't be entitled to mine.

Have any of you actually seen some rubber bullets, my dad has one he got hit with (kept it as a souvenir I guess) and its fuckin huge. If you get hit with one of those in the head, I can see a fatalaty there.

Let's say you joined the Police/Army and called out to face the mob of the day.

Some are protesting War, corrupt Governments, Workers rights.

So they're basically sitting there jamming up traffic, reducing tourism.

Your commanding officer orders you to start throwing tear gas and shoot rubber bullets and those hippies.

What do you do and why?

follow his example to show a united front. These people will have to apply to protest, be assigned a place to protest (towns square etc) and the police will relegate the entire thing AS IT SHOULD BE.

If they clog up the streets they will cost the government money. More money than it costs to fire rubberbullets at feminists and idiots who obviously deserve what is coming to them.
