To be honest not that much, they'd still be constantly disagreeing over soul destroying matters.

Just that it's a bit more awesome to have Cthulu and the Elder things disagreeing over soul destroying matters than a bunch of crotchety old man (and a couple of crotchety old women).

Seriously, I doubt anyone would vote for Cthulu in a real presidential race. It's just so much cooler for them to say "I voted for Cthulu, evil is awesome."
