Yes, I aspire to when I'm qualified, I like the idea of Games Journalism. People says it's a S**t job, but the internet's full of s**t and that doesn't stop me surfing it and playing games on it with every waking minute.

If you had to go to school for a year to train, would your answer change?
In the UK you need to do at least 2 years training at college to do another 3 years training at university.

OT,I'm currently training to be a programmer so I can hopefully get into the games industry.

I'm actually going to school to be a programmer. Seeing how everyone here wants to work in the gaming industry how bout if everyone here in the escapist would make a video game together. Wouldn't that be cool?

You will spend all day doing it, it will be beaten into you, your enthusiasm will wain. Imagine eating your favorite food non stop for 8 hours a day, every day while someone stands over you critiquing it, knowing the entire time that at the end of the day thousands, maybe millions, of people will ***** about it on the internet.
This is sadly true for a lot of people. I used to be roommates with a guy who worked at Harmonix (back before GH came out, when they were relatively small), and it got to the point where he couldn't even listen to music for fun outside of work after hearing the same couple songs over and over eight hours a day while testing stuff. Another former roommate is a graphics programmer at Rockstar now and just got to go through the great time that finishing up Red Dead Redemption was. It really is work when it comes down to it, and it sucks plenty sometimes. I've worked on both game and music projects with the two of them at different points in time, but only non-professionally/for fun, with no deadlines or requirements imposed on them. I'm not sure if it would still be fun in that kind of environment...

Yes and it's what I'm working towards.

I want to be character/level artist, designer, and writer.

i'd love to work as part of a production team, but it seems the only way to get there is with years of experience in the industry and since i suck at drawing, and programming is boring as hell... we'll i'll just have to forget about it.

Probably artist. I would work in the game industry but only for a company like DICE. Id rather work as a 2 dollar hooker than work for Infinity Ward or Rockstar.

LOL maybe, and if we say that we were joined by the escapist it will bring in alot of people in and make it even more popular.

I'd never wanna work for the gaming industry. No point in making excuses; I lack the creativity and intelligence to work in it.

Well i am currently doing a Games Design Uni course so i think i have to say yes :p

Word of advice for artists, go concept art, modelling is worse then being stabbed repeatedly by a sharp blade.

Quite possibly, at least if I can improve my computer know-how. I probably have a few ideas floating around my head, and I'd try to make them Linux-compatible (yes, a friend showed me Ubuntu. Steam not working is the single worst thing about it).

I would rock as a thinking-but-no-programming person. My minor insanity would be an amazing asset.
