Why is it a bad idea? Next time you completely dismiss something, give reasons.ciortas1 said:The only console RTS even worth wasting breath on is Halo Wars, and by PC standards, it's a piece of shit of an RTS, even comparing to games really similar (and by default, rather simple), such as DoW2.The Unworthy Gentleman said:snip
Seriously, pressing multiple buttons to cast one spell? In an MMO? Sorry, rubbish idea.
It may still be playable to some extent if you're a dps, a friend of mine actually wound up being number 1 in damage using a controller in an instance. But it wouldn't work for me since I'm a tank, and a controller would be too awkward and clunky for my tanking style.Chunko said:Broderick said:No it wouldnt work very well. Theres just too many spells, abilities, items, etc for a console control scheme to have, and even if they did somehow make it work, it would probably still be too tedious to play it.You can (and I have) played WOW with an Xbox controller. It's a lot different, but still playable.ciortas1 said:No. Having any MMO with any sort of depth in it (especially combat) on a console is, frankly, retarded. The 4-5 skills you'd be able to use instantly with a gamepad is what you get by level 6. Have you seen how many buttons there are when you get anywhere higher? All sorts of items, potions, even racial skills not even mentioning the 20 or so class ones. Nope, won't work, don't even think about it.
I completely forgot that Black and White had spells. They were the ones that you had to draw onto the ground, right? They were pretty impossible to pull off. But if you set the spell's combination, you'll know what to press. Once you know the combination it's not too difficult to use.ciortas1 said:Same reason it's a bad idea to have Black&White style spell casts. The Unworthy Gentleman said:snip
I play games on consoles, too, but only those that are suited for them. Such as fighters, GoW'esque adventure games or racing games. In other words, nothing deep.
It's not something that should go onto a console, you're right about that. I'd like to see it, both for the game and to see how they managed to sort out all the problems brought up in this thread. It'd make for a nice experiment, but if they were to put an MMO onto a console, it would be much smarter to just come up with a brand new product altogether.ciortas1 said:It's a clunky system that is anything but quick and doesn't account for any of the dozens of usable items people carry around with them. Unless you want your potions or your instant-cast-3-minute-cooldown trinkets be on another combination (which is ridiculous, try pressing square-square-x, square-square-o, square-square-triangle or square-square-square just to blow your DPS cooldowns or ones that would get you out of a tight spot), it's bollocks. The Unworthy Gentleman said:snippity
And I only sound arrogant because there are so many people who don't get the fucking clue. Every kind of game doesn't have to exist on a console, same way every kind game doesn't have to exist on a PC (again, fighters, racing games and 3d platformers work terribly for a mouse and keyboard setup).
What I meant was that my computer screen was smaller, and closer to my face than my tv, that's why I get sick of staring at it.Novskij said:I used to use about 20 buttons + Mouse buttons.
There is no way you can perform the same on a controller.
Oh and keyboard turning is bad enough, controller turning is even worse.
TV screen - 2D surface you stare at.Chunko said:And i dont think I'm alone when I say that I get sick of staring at a computer screen all day.

Logic, where the fuck it went?
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I like many other people just prefer gaming on console. It's just the way I am.ciortas1 said:What's the point? This means you'll have to have both a 360 and a PC, one version will be completely gimped and shitloads of work will have to be done to make these changes. Is it really that big of an issue?
It wont make it work just because you like it.Chunko said:I've said it before and I'll say it again, I like many other people just prefer gaming on console.
