I generally enjoy his videos, but his random America bashing that is shoehorned into what feels like every other review can be quite irritating.

I don't mind self deprecation, and there's a lot to make fun of America for. And he's gotten some good jabs at us over the years that I laughed heartily to.

However, doing so constantly, for often unfounded reasons, it can't help but make me feel as if he holds some grudge against Americans for... existing.

I don't know. Is it just me?

It took me a surprisingly lon gtime to realise that Zero Punctuation is NOT a Review show! Instead it's an entertainment show that airs every week and almost never misses it's mark.

If you take ZP too seriously, you are doing it wrong!
No that's actually not true. It's a review show written as entertainment. So it's a serious review, but it's hilarious. While it seems like it's purely for entertainment, his reviews are genuine and thoughtful as actual reviews
I know that. All I'm saying is that Watching Zero punctuation for Reviews is like Watching Inside Gaming for the news or Seananners' Gameplay commentary for Call of Duty gameplay. Thay're there. And technically those are the points of the videos....... but that's not why you watch it.

If that analogy made absolutely no sense to you because you watch neither Inside Gaming nor Seananners' videos, here is a more familiar analogy: "You don't go to the Beach to get sand kicked in your eyes, You go there to build sand castles. [Getting sand kicked in your eyes is just a natural consequence]"

Get what i mean?
Another analogy I would give is Top Gear. Obviously an entertainment show, but it still based around genuine, insightful and thoughtful reviews and discussions, topped with much comedy. ZP is very much the same. As for the reason you watch it, some people watch for laughs, others watch for the reviews. Most people, however, watch it for both reasons, like myself.

I regularly enjoy his work. That is to say, ranting.

I think either a person doesn't like the reviewing style or the do. If you take him too seriously, the maxim goes "It's all fun and games until he reviews a game you like." I, for one, take him not seriously at all. I could honestly care less about what he thinks about the games that I play and/or like. But he came up with a style of reviewing that manages to be entertaining and unique. Or rather, it was unique until practically everybody decided to rip ZP off. Nonetheless, if it gets ripped off a lot, it must be good, right?

I do enjoy the weekly ZP still.
I'd even say that for some games, his opinion was the deciding factor on whether I should get them or not.

That's because I happen to look for the same things in a game he does: fun, gameplay qualities, maybe even sandboxing..

I don't watch Top Gear much, but i get what you mean, and fair enough. All I'm saying is that i won't necessarily cross out a game and not bother with it, if Yahtzee says it's bad(In which case i would be playing Just Cause 2 and Shadow of the colossus over and over again) like i would if, say Susan Arendt or DeadPixel or Seananners(machinima) said it was bad.

I really love the guy's reviews. I honestly envy his metaphor skills and comedic timing, and in general I think he's a good critic (and definitely an entertaining one)

However, I seriously question some of his ideas. Specifically the "no sequels" idea. I find it funny that he says that no one should ever be able to create sequels when half of the games he praises so much are...wait for it...sequels! Silent Hill 2, Half Life 2, Spiderman 2, Team Fortress 2, etc. He also said that Super Mario Galaxy and Twilight Princess were better than Super Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time in every conceivable way

i watch his reviews for the funny factor as i've not played 99% of the games he's currently reviewed and, from that perspective, they aren't as good as they used to be but i still happily tune in every week.

The shtick is getting on a bit, and the female pudendum-analogies are really scraping the bottom of the barrel at this point.
But the odd review is still entertaining, and I appreciate how he brings otherwise rather obscure titles into the mainstream by showcasing them in his videos.
Amnesia: The Dark Descent probably has a lot for which to thank Yahtzee.

I still really like ZP and Yahtzee and I love watching his videos every week. I wouldn't take his reviews seriously but I find them enjoyable to watch.

ZP is awesome. Yahtzee is just so fucking cool... I agree that he went through a rough patch or two, but 2010 was just one awesome episode after another, and this year is promising for the show as well.

I feel like he isn't critiquing games quite as harshly as he was before. I feel like I should write him an angry letter, telling him how much I hate him and that he should crawl into a hole, just so he is in a good mindset to thoroughly rip on a game. You know, for motivation. He hasn't lost any of his wit or charm, just his focus has changed from raving hate cannon to annoyed commentary

I still think he's funny, what really turned me on were his Extra Puncuations. Whenever I read them I always find myself transfixed by just how much I agree with him about everything video game related. Seriously I'm pretty much a Yahtzee disciple.

3 years of videos that are packed to the brim with jokes, and amazingly, he hasn't gone stale yet. The man is talented.
