If you want to initiate sex you should have the contraceptive.

I still believe using a fake name is the best form of contraceptive.
I LOL'd, very true though.

I'm allergic to latex
There are non-latex condoms that are just as effective and a tad thinner, more sensation.

Have one kept in your wallet, for all occasions.
Problem with that is that, after enough time, your body heat can render the condom ineffective. I think you would have to be carrying it for around 2 months, but still.
A very good point, change it every month or so if you're unlucky enough to go without a random sexual encounter for that long.
Aw, shit.

Anyway, i've never really asked but is there an actual proof of that or is it just heresay propagated by Durex ;)
I've never had a problem with it personally, nor do I want to risk it.

Both guys and girls should bring/have condoms. Always. I carry them in my jacket pocket even when I'm not going out, sex works in mysterious ways sometimes. The other thing that is fantastic to have for both guys and girls is a tube of lube. Some girls I know dry out when you use condoms but still want more, so get some astroglide and leave it on the bedside table.

My advice to girls (as a guy) is buy the mix packs and leave them at your place. That way you can always find the right sized condoms or flavoured or ribbed, its practical and avoids pretty much any problem barring an allergy to latex. Also, bring along a single generic sized one out of the mix pack, latex is incredibly strechy and even if its too small for the guy to enjoy in that case he should have brought the large size or whatever kind he prefers.

Guys experiment and find what you like, then bring them out with you. I always pack 2, one for that night, the other for the next morning.

And last but not least, buy good condoms! The freebies like lifestyles or durex are crap! They feel bad for the girl and the guy gets minimal sensation through the latex. Personally I like ONE condoms, they always feel good for both parties and two packs in I have yet to break a single one.

It is my personal belief that the person whom starts the sexual advance should have brought the condoms. If I was to go up to my girlfriend and start getting all, ya,know, I should have been ready to wrap up. So I don't have kids but if she starts it she should be ready.

It depends. if your out on the pull in a nightclub then it only makes sense for you to bring johnnies (whatever gender encase) otherwise it depends where your doing it. the guys house-guys responsibility. girls house-girls responsibility. most couples just use the pill after a short while. otherwise seems a bit like one of you is hiding something.

I don't carry johnnies, purely because I'd get more use out of a personal lightning conductor.

However, if I were less socially inept (and actually left my computer at any time), I would consider it my responsibility to have one with me.

If two people are planning on engaging in sexual intercourse, both are responsible for ensuring that that intercourse is safe and protected. That's it.

If a woman is regularly engaging in sexual intercourse with multiple partners, then she should be on the birth control pill anyways. However, a condom is still the responsibility of both partners.

Also... don't double up on the condoms, using more than one just increases the likelihood of it breaking. (The extra friction between the two is what causes this.) And for those of you who believe that a condom is any less than 99% effective... well, you're just using it wrong. Or you need to stop kidding yourself and leave the MAGNUM condoms on the shelf. (Interesting fact: Normal Magnum condoms are actually the same size as other condoms. The companies who produce these condoms do that, because they know that the majority of guys buying condoms will pick out the biggest size, which would be in danger of course, of not fitting properly. Besides, take a regular sized condom and I guarantee you can stretch it up to your elbow at least.)

Umm... yes?
It's just another pretty standard sex position.
Unless you mean doing it with an actual dog...
Hhmmmmmmmm

That gives me a Idea !

Sex is, by nature, a SHARED experience. Therefore the use of contraceptives should be a team effort. If you decide in your own personal relationship to delegate one partner to take care of the condoms, fine, but just assuming one gender or the other should be responsible based on only their sex is completely, well, sexist. Nowadays, the consequences of unsafe sex are just as drastic for either gender; remember people, babies aren't the only thing you need to worry about. Sex is something that you should discuss openly with your partner way before you decide you are ready. If you're too embarrassed to do so, then you're probably too immature to be having sex in the first place.

Both, why not be doubly protected just in case someone forget? Hell I would want her to pop the pill too just in case. I want to be bloody certain no little surprise comes about, although in a long term relationship, get th IUV or whatever it is and elimiate the problem altogether.

Also, I would just like to say this topic almost brings a tear to my eye; discussion of safe sex amongst teenagers/young adults? The Escapist restores some of my faith in humanity. It is still so far in the negative there is no hope, however this is a start!

Thank you, Escapist

No I could not resist. :p

Where's the option for "neither/whichever doesn't want a child"? That would translate to either depending on circumstance really, but a relationship based on just boning is going to suffer regardless of who's bringing what in the end (The Todd:"In your end").

Whoops, misanthropy's flaring up again.
