Depends on the situation.

A) Are there people around?

B) Am I alone?

If A, I'd try to turn it in. If B, I can, with a clear conscious, pick it up. I'd consider it a gift from the universe.

If there's no one around, I'd keep it. Otherwise, I'd ask if anyone had dropped it, but it's kind of like...if it's there, and no one's picked it up so far, then clearly no one who's watching dropped it. So I'd just hand it in, in that case. But yeah, I have nothing against keeping it. It's $10.

If you find anything larger than a dime on the sidewalk, you pick it up, and you keep it. If you find a ten dollars bill, or anything larger than that, you definitely keep it. Unless you want to get brownie points towards a payraise, or promotion, if you're at work, or if you saw the person who dropped it drop it, unless, of course, he/she is a dick, you keep it.
Or if you find it at a restaurant, then you just found your waiter's tip, buddy-o.

Or if you want to earn brownie points in a different way, in a different direction, you could clean it, so it's not disgusting, and give it to a close friend.

Also, can I find it sad that all forty people at time of writing input Keep It?

Take it, if they were stupid enough to lose loose money thats their problem. What's funny was when I was at work and the manager found $20 on the floor, he just walked into the kitchen and called out to us all, saying that whoever reaches it first gets to keep it. I managed to get it first, but went out and bought a round of drinks and chips for everyone at the servo next door. :)

Walk away without picking it up because for all I know there is a horrible flesh eating disease hiding, and waiting for me to touch it. Also, it could be a trap, and someone could have it tied to a string so they can lure me to them.

Honestly though, unless it was in a wallet, I would pick it up, and keep on walking. If I find a wallet, I will always go out of my way to return it. I tracked down a person who lived in another town once just so I could return their wallet. They wanted to thank me with a reward, but I didn't want one (I had lost important things before, and never gotten them back, so I felt I was just doing the right thing).

I don't really play bad characters, nor good characters. I play with what I call a "Mercenary Attitude", like Niko, and, well, mercenaries.

I'm a dick when I need to be, and to those I need to be.
I'm indifferent to everyone else, unless something is fishier than Captain Mako.
And I'm as loyal as you get, to anyone that manages to befriend me, and to those that are paying me.
But I am no one's lackey; I'd just as soon put a round in the man paying me, than who he wants me to kill, and I'd just as soon ransack his base, than "acquire" what he wants me to.

I'm also no one's errand boy; if you want some random item, or someone escorted, unless the pay is absurd, get one of your minions to do it.
This SoF will be off on contracts that include more danger than a trip to the crisp shop.
....Or actually on a trip to the crisp shop.

Unless I saw who it belonged to, I'd keep it. Don't get me wrong, OP, you did an admirable job of doing the right thing, but I wouldn't put too much faith in management doing anything other than pocketing it themselves and pretending there's actually an official place where discarded tender is stored until someone walks in demanding their ten back.

I would pick it up and keep it unless I see someone talking about how they lost that amount of money at that location or I see it falling out of someone's pocket (assuming they don't leave too quickly) at which point I'll return it.

Your boss just pocketed it for himself, instead go enjoy the free lunch Lady Luck has given you!

Keep it.
If it was a bit more, I'd probably feel bad, but still keep it.

I'd take it most of the time, but there are a few circumstances where I wouldn't. I probably wouldn't at a casino for instance (an acquaintance of my dad got banned from my local Caeser's for this exact reason).
