Keep it. If it was in a wallet with some form of ID, then you hand it in. You have no way of telling who previously owned the $10.

a concious is a good thing to have, but if you find money on the floor, theres a good chance (100% give or take) that someone is gonna claim it dispite it not being theirs, this is one of those rare cases where it really is, "finders keepers"

What you did.

In a workplace, someone will probably notice $10 missing. If there's a reasonable chance of finding the person who owns the money, and keeping it makes you potentially look shitty in the office, turning it in is not just the right but the smart option. You're proving that you're not just a nice guy but a work professional. Ignore the Internet nihilists.

If the $10 was in the street and nobody was around, that's different.

Recently I saw a very expensive mobile phone drop out of a guy's pocket at a nightclub. I picked it up, tapped him on the shoulder and gave it back to him. He was very happy and what the fuck do I want with another phone anyway, having just one is one too many...

I'd keep it and walk away.

If someone did approach me I'd turn to them and flail my arms in the air while screaming loudly. The shock of such an occurrence would either scare off or leave the person in a state of shock out of the suddenness of the experience.

Lulz would be had.

If somebody comes and says they dropped it, depending on who it is I give it back to 'em.

If I see somebody dropped the money, depending on who it is, I'll try and return it to them. If they walk away too fast, however, it's mine now.

Money's money.
This.

also lucky bastard

I came across 10 dollars on the floor at work the other day and i turned it in to one of the managers at work because it wasn't mine. I saw nobody near where i found the money and nobody saw me pick it up. I could have easily kept it and walked away but i just decided to turn it in.

What would you do?

Edit- well im starting too feel like my conscious is a bad thing to have. Oddly enough in games where you make moral choices i rarely make the bad choice because it makes me uncomfortable to do so. Fable two is the only pure evil character ive done and that made the game boring -_-
Your conscious is a good thing to have.

Anyway, I'd return it; it would be the right thing to do. "No one will miss it." Or, "It's only ten dollars." People who say those types of things are just trying to find ways to justify their actions.

Finding money on the street may be a different thing, but you found it at work. So it's good that you turned it in.

Hats off to you.

If I know who it belongs to then I return it.

Otherwise, it's all mine.

I'd pick it up and take it to the foreign currency exchange, after that I'd get a pint at the nearest pub :]

I'd ask nearby people if any of them had lost it and, if not, keep it. Apperantly this makes me part of a very small minority...

Was it actually your birthday?

OT: I'd keep it, it's only ten dollars. That's just about enough for lunch around here.

At work, turned it in, no point in losing your job over it. Anywhere else where the owner is nowhere to be found then it's finders keepers.

I would have been strongly tempted to do what you did, though...money is indistinguishable...it's not like other lost property. Announcing "did anyone lose this?" will likely be met with people lying.

Actually, there are cameras everywhere at my work, and managers who watch them for anything suspicious. I would probably hand it in, $10 pays for peace of mind.

Gah...I suck.

I'd keep 10 bucks... probably look around a little, maybe ask the closest person if it's theirs, then pocket it.
If it was 100 I'd probably turn it in.

I once found around £30 in a bag on the floor, and was like "achja!!" but then I saw a kid crying about how he lost his money... I'm not quite a big enough dick to still keep it.
