I'd have picked that up.

On the bus this week I found a girl's purse though with a £300 bus pass in it, so I gave it in to the city's main library (as she also had a library card) and they rang her up from there.

There was no cash in it, and I'd feel pathetic if I kept someone's entire fucking wallet/purse. A tenner just laying on the floor though? Sure, why not? It's not like anyone can actually claim it.

In England, id keep it, head to the post office, get my £7 or so and buy some Fish'n'chips. In America, id just keep it and buy Oreo Bisuits. mmmmmmmm

My rule is thus: If I don't see someone drop it and it's below or equal to the value of £20 I keep it.

My job involves cleaning cinema floors so I regularly find money. I use it to buy crisps or sandwiches.
