Personally I'd have liked there to be a Hamill option (as it would have been my choice) and Caesar option to see what other opinions there are.

Out of the two available, I picked Nicholson, not that I'm saying Ledger was bad mind.

I'd say neither. If I had to choose from the two I'd go for Ledger, as the Joker always needs a good level of crazy, but my favourite is the version from Batman: The Animated Series. Say what you like, but Mark Hamil did a fantastic job, I still use that psychotic laugh to scare my cousins when they annoy me.
I agree... even though the Joker was never my favorite Batman villain.

Why can we not choose Cesar Romero or Mark Hamill?

Yes. Yes we do. As if Luke Skywalker's work in the Animated Series wasn't enough, he comes and does Arkham Asylum post-Ledger and more than stands up to him.

Not that they're in competition. Different takes on a character that almost requires radically different interpretations to keep him intriguing.

I also think we need a Romero option. Face paint over his mustache. And if we're talking about insane, the 60s Joker was so off that 95% of the time his plans barely even injured anybody, so dedicated was he to using giant boxing gloves on springs and silly string and guns with BANG! flags. Yes, Ledger killed people just for fun. But Romero put himself directly in the path of Batman's fist just to waste Batman's time as elaborately as possible.

For the lulz, indeed.

both of these Jokers are shit. but then the joker himself is shit, a villain used by only the most unimaginative of comic creators and such.

as such I'm gonna say an unrelated bat-villain entirely. The Flamingo. because he eats people's faces

Ledger gave an awsome performance, could only see "his" Joker, couldn't see Heath which was good.
Nicholson's Joker was good, closer to the comic, but it was still Jack Nicholson.

I agree with most of other posters, Mark Hamill captures the role perfectly, chilling, psychotic and crazy.

I like the new movie incarnation a great deal, but he bit the dust (Sorry about that, but he did). That means no new sequels with the new incarnation of the Joker.

Mark Harmill had the best freaking joker laugh EVAR! I agree that we need his name on the vote. He would get the majority, I think.

Heath Ledger, we will miss you, but you died so strangely that I can't help but dislike you. It was either drugs, metal disorder, suicide, or whatever. You gave your best performance as Joker and died. Maybe, just maybe, the persona of the Joker has become too Dark and sinister. The Joker was a gag by the writers who were feeling uncreative at the time. Now he has become a pop icon.

Nicholson's huge revolver was hilarious, and it was a good performance.

However............Leger's messed up one was fucking awesome. Simply awesome

Tie between Heath Ledger and the Joker from Batman the Animated Series. I loved Nicholson's Joker, but looking back, it felt a little too much like 'Jack Nicholson as the Joker' instead of the nearly unrecognizable performances by Heath Ledger and Mark Hamill.

Jesus Christ I'm a nerd.

the Arkham Asylum Joker for me is the best by far, followed by Ledger.

in AA he was as he should be, completely NUTS! making jokes the whole time, and always seeming like he was high on something.

Ledger, while being very different in style, was still an amazing joker. to me he seemed like a guy that had just stopped caring, knew that nobody would stop him if he decided to blow a few things up and went for it.

it's supposed to be " " and "[ /img ]" (without the spaces) =D

OT : I think they both have their merits, and I love them both. But my favourite Jokers will always be the ones from the late 1980's to early/mid 1990's comics. The Killing Joke, Dark Victory, The Dark Knight Returns and even A Death In The Family. Although, I suspect those are exactly the ones that inspired Heath Ledgers Joker xP.

Jack Nicholson. The man is a superb actor and did an unmatchable performance in the classic batman.

Heath Ledger was acting. Jack Nicholson was just in makeup being himself which was just better in my opinion.

MARK HAMMIL! Why the fuck is there no MARK HAMIL option!? Or Romero. Some people liked Romero. This poll was put together very poorly, if your going to do this type of poll you have to consider everyone know for the roll! I didnt like Nickleson Or Legder AND YET THERE IS NO MARK HAMILL OPTION! Fix this IMMEDIATLY!
