sure its fake and i dont exactly watch it but i am impressed with a single fact that with all the moves they DONT get hurt, thats amazing timing and skill to avoid doing serious damage even by accident
I beg to differ, it hurts less than it would if you didn't know how to fall, but it hurts like a son of a *****, everyone in a match goes away with a few bumps and bruises, a few go away bleeding, some unlucky few get stretchered out, I've seen it and been there.

The Acting makes me cringe. I'm an Actor myself, of course, so when I see the wrestling monologues/interviews, I just want to flip the channel.
I agree, but they're supposed to be wrestlers not actors, WWE and TNA hand a around scripts for everyone to learn for their segments now a days, back in the attitude era (with The Rock and Stone Cold) it wasn't scripted, they were given a general idea, a point to get across in their segment and they always came off better than they do now.

Haha you reminded me of a scene with triple H, he rehearsed it so much he could do it with his eyes shut, then he forgot to put a t-shirt on as he came to the ring then tried to take it off, ahhhhhh, I laughed
I'm off to search, that sounds quite hilarious.
And you are right though, Wrestlers aren't Actors.
P.S. Your Avatar is win, All hail the Zap Brannigan!

I've tried watching pro wrestling before. However fun the fights were to watch, they didn't make up for putting up with those goddamn annoying announcer guys.

Its ok.

My ex was very into it, He was into the backyard jumping of the roof with a chair stuff.

After he broke is arm for the third time, we split up.

We was a sweet heart but the constantly reappering injueries were jsut to much for me.

I never watch it on TV, however if some of my friends actually wanted to go to a live event I would probably go. I have heard it is actually pretty cool to see in person.

I hate "Pro wrestling" because of how it makes wrestling look, namely like a soap involving a bunch of steroid bloated men. Also the actual match is quite rigged while an actual wrestling match requires a lot of strength and skill to win.

That's exactly what pro wrestling is.

I don't see how anyone could mistake it for actual wrestling.

Staged fights can be cool, and i enjoy kong-fu movies, but pro wrestling is so awfully choreographed/staged that it's fakeness hurts my eyes. sure many of the moves might be hard to do right/safely, but it just doesn't look impressive when the other guy stands and wait for it.

"yo dude, stand still for 5 sec while i climb the ropes so i can jump on you"
"sure, I wasn't planning on like taking 2 steps away to render your attack useless anyways"

I've never really been into pantomime. And that is exactly what wrestling is.
*raises eyebrow Rock style*
Exactly why I like it.

Anyone who doesn't understand that Wrestling is fictional athletics really needs to stop taking it so seriously.

I enjoy watching a good match as much as I like watching a good ballet. The only reason I don't watch WWE is because of the rampant commercialism. I can't stand how the story arcs are just a means to promote the pay-per-view shows. It also irritates me (to a lesser extent however) how they have to exagerate all their movements on tv because they're performing for a stadium. It's a minor thing, but you infrequently see small moves that have a big impact, everything has to be overdone.

Still, it's pretty amazing when done well.

im an old school rasslin fan, yes i was a hulk-a-maniac. i kinda lost interst after wrestlmania III so missed out on the years of Stone Cold and the Rock though. i started watching Smackdown a few years ago (till the moved it off of WB) and i gotta say the only rassler (yes im using that spelling on purpose) i can even slightly stand now days is Batista ohh and The Big Show.

i dont understand how all these turds actualy made it to 'superstardom', i mean common, EDGE for Christ sake? or that little masked mexican dude? THESE are superstars? in Hogans day they would be the Jobber. even The Great Khali who is a freak of nature is a sad sight when he actualy trys to ....... 'wrestle' i gues you can call it.

and For Gods sake end the undertaker and Rick flare both. its just sad now.

watching rasslin is kinda like jerkin off if you ask me, its fun while your doing it but your ashamed aferwords

I absolutely love pro-wrestling. WWE doesn't really interest me and TNA Wrestling is kind of heading the same way but there is great stuff out there that is a world away from "oh its two gay guys rubbing against each other". Ring of Honor springs to mind as an example of good wrestling, great in-ring action (don't even bother!) and without too much of the pantomine antics that make the bigger players look so ridiculous.

I always use the same defence of pro-wrestling: I don't watch it as a sport or as a soap opera, but more more in the way that a ballet enthusiast watches a performance. I value fluid movement, high flying acrobatics and hard hitting moves. Just my two cents.

EDIT sorry, BPM just made the exact same point and I missed it. My bad!

I actually grew INTO wrestling as opposed to out of it. From ages 7 to 10 (during what was widely regarded as wrestling's golden age) I was just like all the detractors on here. Nit because I had ever seen a pro wrestling match in my life, but because all the kids that picked on me in school were wrestling fans. I was about 14 when I discovered what I had truly missed out on.
Performance art.
A true athletic spectacle.
And a fan base that was being constantly bullied by uneducated, populist, homophobes and douche bags. Almost every single detractor on this thread has reminded me of those guys that started calling me a ****** when I was 14. Or those guys in the basement of the library who probably considered me a stupid, trailer trash, jock. In reality, you are all dicks. It wasn't until I was 15 that I found someone who was not a wrestling fan who also did not throw put downs at me. He is my best friend to this day, because he chose to respect other people interests rather than apply homophobic insults. Cause when you call something gay, or homoerotic in a demeaning context, you're being a homophobe.
Just making it clear.

I've never forgiven myself for giving my little brother a piledriver when I was 10...
I gave my nephew a tombstone piledriver...

Though now he's getting A's in Biology and Physics! So perhaps I should get some kind of credit for that!

I used to like it when I was younger, however even though I don't now, I still respect the skill it takes to go out and perform for a crowd. It's like theatre, with muscular oiled men. Yeah.
