OT: I like Pokemon but I fell out around Crystal...
What the heck did I just read? I believe a facepalm would be quite appropriate here...
Did the person who wrote that even attempt to understand it? Their explanation took bits and pieces from the TCG, video games, and anime without making any distinction between them. I had to laugh at the description of pokemon abilities. Since when can electric pokemon use antigravity (except maybe Magnemite, but that's a magnetism thing, not antigravity)? And can anyone show me a poison move that breaks bones? Or any move, for that matter? I can't think of one, even considering the other three generations that have come after that was written.
I think it's ridiculous too unless there talking about the manga because the Pokemon actually died in that... they didn't faint or get knocked out they straight up died like acid attack would burn straight through the entire Pokemon or ember would set them up in flames and slowly burn to death...

Like it, but worried about where the series is going to go after Black/White.

Despite what people seem to blab, Pokemon design is just as good (and bad) as its always been. The originals arent sacred, or good. For every Charizard there is a Jynx, Mr. Mime, Lickitung, and Hitmonchan. Same for every generation.

And despite what people say, each new generation brings new and updated mechanics, which makes the battles new and exciting. Stealth Rock is the only complaint I have for the current generation.

Either way, I like them. I think the series has to expand to MMO soon, as its getting too big.
I would be quite tempted to play an MMO if made, despite the likelyness of including all the pokemon I hate. Ive already had many a nerdy fantasy of how an MMO could play out.

I still love them, not because they're "new and exciting" but because it's always fun to underlevel pokemon and try to beat the elite 4 with all level 35's (breeding helps, as well as having perfect type counters for each elite 4).

Also raising a Magikarp to level 99 is always a hoot (albeit a massive waste of time).

Only Pokemon I ever maxed (legitimatly) was an Alakazam I raised from a lvl 8 Abra near Cerulean in Blue. That is why it is my favorite pokemon ever (and why I have an affinity for psychic types)

I maxed out my Chatot, using it to bring others through the elite four to level them. I love my Lv100 Chatot. It's the only interesting normal/flying type since generation one.

Alakazam kicks ass, I pity all those who stood before the might of my level 100 Psiko (nickname for Alakazam), I also always have a Machamp, and I go through some games with just a machop and an abra as soon as I get them, it actually goes really well.

I admit, they're fun games. I never felt like I was being burned when they released new Pokémon or anything. I just have better things to spend my money on. They were a HUGE part of my childhood however.

I still like Pokemon, and the next generation is the first generation of Pokemon I am actually excited for. I have played Blue, Gold, Ruby, Platinum, and Soul Silver. I never cared much about Ruby/Sapphire and Diamond/Pearl because I never had the Gameboy Advance or DS when they were coming out. I feel that these games are as great if not better than the originals and I will keep playing them. On a side note, I also like the anime.

I still sort of like the games, but it seems like each time the dev team think of more ways to screw the players over. Making some pokes evolve are getting laughably difficult, HM slaves are still necessary, and their a sometimes 4+ Legendaries to my one master ball. So I'm dreading how frustrating Black and White will be.
Well, I do hate the fact that, despite the goal being to catch them all, its almost impossible. Only Red/Blue can you do it, but even then you have to do a glitch to get Mew. Later games, pokemon like Mew and Celebi require special events from Nintendo...and an e-Reader....and the japanese version.
*Sigh* We'll never catch the Dragonite will we?

I think there's still a stigma for adults to play, but I'm an adult who has only played one for five minutes. It was not fun and I quit. I never got the shows, and I never played the card games either.

Yay for a pokemon thread that I can actually post in.

Dragonite is not hard to get. Dratini are actually rather easy to get in most games, you just have to bother getting it to its rather high evolution level to get Dragonite (after Dragonair)

All of them are good, though I personally haven't played anything beyond Gold. Solid series but I just don't see enough game to game difference to entice me to upgrade through every single version like some people do.

Grind fest.

I only put up with it when I was a kid because I hadn't played anything better.

Oh no, I was making a reference to how addicting Pokemon can be via a Heroine joke on South Park. My bad for making a bad joke : P
I have a few Dragonites and they kick ass.

I grew up with pokemon, I even remember my first episode of the anime, which was the one where Ash had Primape fight in the fighting Tournament, good times ^_^. To be honest I'm growing out of pokemon, but I think this new series could save it, or totally bomb and forever make see Pokemon with contempt...either way something is gonna happen to let me use my DS which is now gathering dust

Diamond/Pearl was less than what I expected, and Black/White shouldn't come out. Ruby/Sapphire should have been the glorious end the series deserves.
