All of them are good, though I personally haven't played anything beyond Gold. Solid series but I just don't see enough game to game difference to entice me to upgrade through every single version like some people do.
There actually is alot of difference. A much bigger jump from Gold/Silver to Saphire/Ruby though than from G/S from Blue/Red. Everyone from S/R looks like they are from Golden Sun.

I still sort of like the games, but it seems like each time the dev team think of more ways to screw the players over. Making some pokes evolve are getting laughably difficult, HM slaves are still necessary, and their a sometimes 4+ Legendaries to my one master ball. So I'm dreading how frustrating Black and White will be.
Well, I do hate the fact that, despite the goal being to catch them all, its almost impossible. Only Red/Blue can you do it, but even then you have to do a glitch to get Mew. Later games, pokemon like Mew and Celebi require special events from Nintendo...and an e-Reader....and the japanese version.
*Sigh* We'll never catch the Dragonite will we?
Dragonite is not hard to get. Dratini are actually rather easy to get in most games, you just have to bother getting it to its rather high evolution level to get Dragonite (after Dragonair)
Oh no, I was making a reference to how addicting Pokemon can be via a Heroine joke on South Park. My bad for making a bad joke : P
I have a few Dragonites and they kick ass.
Oh, my bad. Thats happened to me before too.
I rarely catch more than one of a single pokemon, not counting multiple evolution pokemon. (Wurmple, Oddish, and shiver...Eevee...)

Oh, I'm not saying there isn't any difference. I'm just saying that for me personally there isn't enough difference to get me to go out and buy each new version and start all over again. If I knew where my DS was, I'd actually probably be interested in picking up either one of the last ones or B/W as it's been a while since I have upgraded.

that's right, I said it; I rather disliked the 1st and 2nd generation pokemon games.

watcha gonna do about it?

....

Please don't kill me...

though the 5th generation looks like CRAP. I like the human designs though.

Hey I admit that the first and second generation doesn't play well (no running >_<) and the graphics are bad comparired to the others. So don't sweat it

I honestly don't see anything wrong with them, sure they added more, and branched off more Pokemon((Pre)Evolutions and what not), but for me, hell, I find it all the more fun with that.

Still waiting for a baby Kangaskhan though, babies do no make babies in eggs. Well, they might be able to, but the imagery for it is just horrifying.

As for Black and White, I was a bit disappointed when I learned that I couldn't use any of the Pokemon from Generations past until I made my way through the story and got the National Dex, meaning, no A(mb)ipoms, Victreebel's, Lapras, Crobat, and the like that I always stuck to D;

But honestly, trying out a whole new generation doesn't seem so bad, even if there are Pokemon like Gear, it just gives the same feelings as your first Pokemon game; Provided you aren't a negative Nancy and/or spoil the whole list of Pokemon before you even get the damn game.

Not a prob with any of em. Still the great games they were. I just stopped buying them due to the need to buy the old ones again to catch the missing pokemon.

I've voiced my opinion about pokémon before, and I dislike the design of nearly all new ones, seeing as they don't look like they are part of any "natural" eco-systems (OK, OK. How are any pokémon outside of the basic types in any way natural?). The later generations don't really strike me as realistic as the earlier generations (I left out

Other than that bug up my ass, I don't see anything wrong with the game mechanics the later games introduced, seeing as they mildly reflect reality.

While what little I've seen of Black & White, one thing I really like is the fact that these games will feature ONLY next generation pokémon. To those who have played- did Nintendo see the light and make the same limitations for the sake of sanity? And what features did they include, compared to Diamond/Pearl?

Up to Ruby is ok. They were good games but everything after just needed to die.
We share the same view. I refuse to go past Gen III, since even by then, the quality of the pokemon started to fall. Too many new baby forms or dumb extra evovled forms, or just rehashing of old pokemon. Plus I hate Lucario with a passion.
Agreed, yea I like the games and the series up to Sapphire, Ruby & Emerald. After that, i've not even bothered play.

Pokemon is a fun game for a TBS. Story can be cliché at times, well all the time, but we play for the experience of the battles, evolutions, move animations, and, obviously, to catch'em all! With the new addition of battling online, everyone can now battle and trade with anyone around the world. Competitions are being held to see whos the best trainer in the world. The new version of black/white is told to be a completely new pokemon, unrelated to previous games and excluding past pokemon, giving everyone a chance to be at the starting point. the point where you, the gamer, walk into the strange new world of pokemon black/white, with your starter pokemon at your side and pokedex in hand.

I don't care for them. I played a GBA incarnation for a brief time (Ruby I think) but found that I was bored to tears. I felt no compulsion to collect pokemon and rapidly grew tired of the grind that forms the basis of the game. To be honest, the game left me wondering why it was so incredibly popular. Its continued success simply baffles me: my time with the game felt like work.

I was at the "Pokemon age" (in this country about 4th grade, 10 years old, according to people)and a bit after that so about to Ruby and Sapphire but lately I think that up to gold silver was my opinion because then the artwork were still animals and not just bulbs flying around in different sizes and colours. But I still remember my old Pokemon days and even downloaded green to my gba emulator and played it through, it gave some good memories, but just like with any anime I also think it is suitable for any age if you just don't bother about the fact that it's not hard to find the meaning in each episodes and lack of blood and stuff like that, (which I don't mind at all, I don't need blood or too twisty plots) but I think the makers of the show have intended it for the kids and therefore it's a bit childish so to say.

Back in the day, I was actually able to get a mew and complete the 151 without having to go to an event or glitch it to get it.

I think I was 13 or 14 years old, I don't remember exactly, boy I feel old. At the time I had all three versions out, Blue, Red, and Yellow. Well, my Aunt and Uncle went camping with their camper and I went along with them and my 7 or 8 year old cousin. He came up to me and asked me to help him catch an Articuno in his game. I found out that he was nowhere near the level or the place to catch it, he had maybe two or three badges. I was like, "argggh, I'm not playing your game for you." So since I had all three versions and three Articuno, I decided to be nice and trade him one. I of course knew I wouldn't get anything good out of the trade and I told him that. But then it was like a grand fluke of luck, he blurted out, "I have a Mew, I don't like it and don't want it." I didn't believe him until he showed me. I did a double take. It turned out that one of his little friends got the Mew at an event. I was like, "Yeah, here have one these Articuno which I have three of and don't use."

I love pokemon, but age is the one thing I never really got about the game. I got into the game when I was 13-14, when I understood how RPGs and the game mechanics worked. But the game is obviously aimed at kids much younger. The thing is, every kid that I encountered that was ten or under, had no clue how the game worked and never got more than a few towns in. Heck, I found out a few weeks after I traded that Articuno to my cousin, he had restarted his game. I was like, "What, I gave you an Articuno and you restarted the game, erasing it from existence." He said "well the stupid thing wouldn't listen to me." "Of course it wouldn't listen to you, you didn't actually play the game to get enough badges."
I actually encountered a lot of kids that did that restart thing if they got stuck in the game.

Sorry about that, I like telling stories.

It's an entry level RPG. With that said it's still plenty of fun. It's not the kind of game I'll belt out like Diablo 2 or some other RPGs but I'll still give it credit for being able to make the genre palatable by a younger generation whom might not otherwise take well to the leveling system.

I was a teen when the original came out, after they expanded to new horizons outside of that, I think everyone from my age group/class dropped it pretty quickly.

Definitely something that I feel is for the children. I can't sit down and listen to a real animal bark or meow for longer than a few minutes than have a fake one repeat the same word over and over again without making me want to break things.

That sort of patience ran dry for me.
